Hello all,
Surprised to learn that when you purchase, a year end 2012 brand new kite from a dealer the company will not offer a year warranty from date of purchase.
Apparently, once the production year comes to an end so does the warranty.
Is this in fact true?

No, 1 year from date of purchase. Someone is pulling your leg.

Bob,
Why would the shop owner (cabrinha distributor) "pull my leg" ?
If, in fact, what you say is true wouldn't this be bad business practice?
Anyone else care to chime in.
Regards,
windr

If it's true then it seems quite unfair.
BTW it has been years since I have seen a claim for a kite...

We have consumer protection laws to protect against nonsense like that. If a good is faulty then the shop must either repair, replace or refund.
Most goods are covered for 1 year, electronics for 2 years

O.k. Just to open this up a bit let's include boards.
Agree, if true seems unfair and in a way you would think that Cabrinha would still give the 1 year at the date of purchase because they have confidence in their products.

you could simply use the internet to read the first sentence of the Cabrinha warranty for clarification...

Now, suppose you bought it from a distributor and not a dealer...

Bob is right. He and I are both Cab dealers and on their warranty form dealers submit, it says "date of purchase".
Maybe Bob was trying to be diplomatic when he said someone was pulling your leg. In reality, whoever told you it was production year was just wrong. There, I said it.

It could be possible that you paid very little for the board and thereby renounced on warranty rights ?
