Wayne, Pascal, Dean and I had a rare chance to play on the east side of Angle Mountain yesterday. We should've gotten there earlier but we had a few logistical hurdles. Ririe was blowing and we could see a bunch of people on the webcam which was taunting, but the East wind was different than the usual catabatic wind at Ririe. It was obvious on the guages.
Anyway, we decided to hit up Angle mountain. Angle Mtn has some steep climbs and is generally accessed by sled. Often the sled ride to the top is nearly as fun as the kiting. If slednecks haven't already been there and broken trail it can take hours to get up there in the deep powder.
South wind is usually the ticket there and allows your tack to take you from one end of the area to the other over a bunch of terrain. With East wind a big windshadow develops in the middle pushing us to ride mainly on the East facing outside slopes. Still quite epic especially for flying and some hill climbs.
Here's a couple pictures we snagged so you can see the spot.
Cheers,
Will
