Naples Florida this weekend?

Postby kitelivy » Thu Feb 14, 2013 4:10 pm

Wondering where I should try in the Naples area?

I have looked on Windfinder etc and it looks like a cold front moving through later on Saturday and windy colder conditions Sunday. What are people wearing on the water in these conditions?

Hoping some locals can give me some info. Thanks!

The wind may be side offshore on Sunday there. No one really knows but I would checkout the forecast and real time wind sites carefully. If you check you will see the forecast changes a bit from place to place in South Florida. Where are you traveling from?

The local forecast from the NWS is at:
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... mx=1&zmy=1

Saturday is to have a high of 73 F and Sunday 61 F. Sunday is pretty cold by local standards more so with wind chill. If you plan to be out for a while I would wear something pretty warm including a hood. I would wear the heaviest wetsuit I have a 5/4 with vest if I planned on going out for the day.

Tigertail Bch (Marco Island) looks good after 12 for Sat. usually I'd gamble and go, but gotta work Sat (ugh). I like it best on a straight west, but this works, wind there prob be better than any of our kiteable westerly locations here on the east side of the state (that I know of).

Good luck and enjoy! Marco rocks.
