Yes. Last years 17 Dyno is history!! New 17 has 5 struts and WAY more low end and delivers Mega jumps and hang time. Fly one and you will see.

Hey 14,

is the leading edge made of 'normal' material ie dacron or is it the light material used on the old 18m?

When I edge hard, I can 'bend' the leading edge of last years 17m Dyno, as if under inflated but I know its ok ie 6 psi, and usually when the wind is in the upper range and I find I can do this even in standard jumps too (which are poor imho compared to the 18m) but I was wondering if the LTD is the same? Can you edge or stomp or somehow sea anchor yourself to see if the LE will bend, or fold? I expect the new bridle setup will handle this better and just wondering.

Thanks,

Robbie :)

I pump my 18 to 7psi.
With 6 it bends in gusts and edging hard. And I usually always edge hard ;-)

I flew the 17m2 LTD DYNO for 2 days in a row when my friend 14TOE came to my beach
SupaEZ to hand pump...LE is as small as my 12 REBEL..
....i put in exact 6 PSI and no bending in 15kn

I had the best combo possible i believe .......in our SE 11-15 kn side on ocean surf wind
Air temp 80 / water temp 70 .....I AM 165 lbs

North Nugget 2013 + that kite gave me the highest floatiest hangtime ever in such wind
You can send that kite for a jump so much faster than than the 18
Thin LE + less struts + improved profile + wingtip design = supa fun to ride and jump..lotsa low end

EZ to launch ( my sandbag technique) and to land (without using QR)...
....yank on top line and 5th at same time after going up the centerline up to the split
..with kite on wingtip on sand at edge of window totally depowered

This kite was flying with the zero stretch North Gold flying lines...
.... i am sure it contributed to the extreme fast direct awesome response from the bar input

Once again thanks 14TOE...i am very fortunate because there is only one more LTD 17 in USA
And i got to SEE how great it is :thumb: .....let's not forget the NUGGET for ultimate ride either!!!

Loved also the solid bright green color :D

If the improvements you describe over my beloved 18m are even half true, I want one now!

Is the LTD not available because it is a temporary model between 2012 and 2013 Dyno made so that the North riders had a new kite to ride at the World Courserace championships this past fall? Anyone know when the new 2013 kite comes out?

Thanks for the review 14. In honor of you: :happybirthday:

All sounds good :thumb:

I've red it's a light weight kite,
so I'm curious what is the weight of the canopy with bridals :?:

Hey supa,

hows the LTD power compared to the 19m Core? Is it as easy to steer as the Core and is the steering radius bigger/smaller?

Could you do a comparison to your beloved Core? Have you ever ridden an Ozone Edge or the Naish Fly?

Thanks,

Robbie :)

For those who care, the 17 LTD i weighed was 9 lb 9.5 oz (including the warranty/information cards).

Design-wise, it is pretty much an early iteration of what will be the 2013 Dyno. The 2013 is considerably different than the 2012, and early on in the design process Ken was finding some serious advantages over previous years' designs, and since racers deal with such short obsolescence schedules in gear, we put it out to tide racers who need the fastest gear available over until the 2013s are released. The 2013s should be arriving in the next few months.
