Totally Agree.
Sliders are for wake boarding and cable parks, They don't make sense for kites.

Guess that should be the same for surfboards? What about snowboards, and ski's for snow kiting? Guess we should not use those either.
Kite is just a pull use it how ever you want. Some like to mow the lawn others, jump, freestyle, surf, pull a boat, wake board, go really fast, it goes on and on.

I thought kites were for flying, not using as a sail

It's all about the freedom. Surfing the waves with a kite or snowkiting doesn't loose the freedom. the kite has a purpose.
Sliders with a kite, well as you stated, the kite is just a pull. It looses it's purpose. You don't need it, just use a cable or a winch.

Well, before I ever wakeboarded I had horrible TT board skills, after a few sessions, I was good at it.
Still haven't ridden at a cable park, and I'm not making any air passes. I bet a little cable time would help with that....
Honestly I do see the point of saying cable, "big deal" until you nail it in chop with a kite.
To me, watching cable vids of kitesurfers is kind of like watching a football practice.
Not boring like a video of a weight room workout but still not what we really want to watch or do.
But hitting sliders with a kite, that is actually doing something, can't deny it.

Yeah, cable park action just looks like practice to me. It won't mimic the kite's action, so in reality its just wakeboarding practice. I suppose some might be into it, but sliders look tragically limited to me. What else can you do except spin in a circle on them? I could see if you were using a wake skate board with no straps, and actually had to ollie onto them, use kickflips and such for variation, but they would still be limited because there is no defined "zones" like there are on a skateboard. A nose slide isn't a nose slide because there are no trucks to define what a "nose" is.

Ahh to the self righteous of you out there all I can say is this.
This sport is about fun and enjoyment. Not to one persons point of view but to that of each individual person taking part in the sport. I'm sorry some of you don't see the benefits of cross training or don't see the infinite possibilities of hitting sliders. I'll chalk that up your ignorance and or closed minds. This sport is about freedom but that freedom does not stop at what a few self absorbed ass holes believe that freedom should be.
Oh I really don't think the OP was really talking about the cable as much as he was showing off the angle from his remote controlled helicopter. Nice for people to miss that point.
In closing. Who gives a rats ass how someone else chooses to enjoy this sport. I'm only worried about doing my thing because it's what I enjoy.
