I think the REAL DVD series was well produced and a valuable training aid. I understand that it can't be updated every year, but kites have changed since those DVD's were made. The riding advice is still valid, but, for example, self launching with sand on bent over wingtips no longer applies to most kites. Are there any plans to come out with updated videos? Maybe a subscription site like Snowboard Addiction would be viable?

The latest video on the market is the new Airstyle DVD
www.airstyle.tv
666 tricks, how tos for jumping, landing, crashing, launching, landing.
And brief description for 17 different sections like boardoffs, one foots, jesus walks, slides etc.
Not every trick gets explained, but a lot of tricks to get inspired!!!

I do plan on checking it out, I did not expect it would cover any basics.

It has Level 1 to 5.

This DVD is for all levels from beginer to pro to get inspired, hooked tricks of course.

We make the
Progression series of videos, covering all the core techniques and tricks with in-depth instructional, from Beginners to Experts. Our videos were originally released across 5 DVDs, and they are still are available like this, but we also have our
Progression Player App which allows you to purchase the videos in smaller segments or as collections. Currently this is only for iOS (iPhone & iPad) but we are working on our Android App which is coming along nicely and will be available in the coming months, and any purchases will sync between all your devices.
Self-launching is an interesting topic. We were going to cover it in our Intermediate Volume 1 DVD but finally decided to leave it off as we felt it had too many variables to cover safely.
There are so many different scenarios/locations and kites with slightly different tweaks to self launch reliably. Some of the most hideous kite mares happen when people try and self launch so its always my advise to get a friend who knows what they are doing to show you, in person, on a big open sandy beach where you can't hit anything if it all goes wrong

what exactly do you want covered? self launch, jumping, unhooked, kiteloops what?
Progression is amazing. In no way affiliated with them, but they have been updating all of their videos over the years, and they cover just about everything you can think of . . . except self launch and hmm I seem to remember that they still don't cover the Jesus walk?

No, the Jesus Walk is something we are yet to cover! In fact there is a lot of tricks we don't cover - I think Toby's new Videos are testament to that, I dread to think how many decades it would take me to cover 666 tricks in the depth of instruction we go for with our premium videos. But we have the core principles of most tricks covered and then hopefully people have a better understanding of how to add variations to those tricks. Something like the Airstyle DVD is perfect for giving people that inspiration to take the next steps and experiment with lots of ideas!
I do have some additional tricks that I'd like to give the Progression treatment too but first I've got some wave videos to make...

Progression has in depth explanations to some a selection of tricks.
Always worth its money.
Airstyle is an inspiration of what is possible with generel info about what is important for the key elements.
And good how to for jumping, landing and crashing.
Very important is the safety section for you to limit the risk and minimize it with info you don't get from your instructor.
