I have used 2009 Vegas kites and really liked them and I thought that the 2012 were even better. It is a great kite and I have no real complaints on them outside of that I like the 4 line set ups. I moved to C4 kites and enjoy them (currently looking to move onto Epic Judge kites) but the 2012 vegas kite I wouldn't hesitate in buying again. They are well built and solid performing kites! I haven't used any other year outside the two that I have mentioned.

Buy Torch if you like it ! Vegas will not be "simpler"

How would the torch be more simple than any other 5 line kite? The vegas is a great kite that suits a lot of different riding abilities! I would think that if you are looking for a C shaped kite that is simple than look to the 4 line variety! There are plenty of debates on what constitutes a proper C kite but many of the so called Hybrid C's have all the benefits of the "hardcore" C's but better range and depower. Check out the new park and envies, C4, Judge or any other in those styles. If you want to stick with the more accepted C kites than the Vegas kites that you are on will suit all your needs and beyond.

Torch and vegas are in terms of build kinda very alike. 5 lines, high Y etc. They do fly in a different manner but in terms of relaunch, 'simplicity' etc are quite similar. Go for 2013 - it is great. 2010 and 2011 are almost identical and are great too.

dont like weak feeling,, low input, spongy kites.... went out on 5m yesterday (average 32 gusting probably 40 knots)- it oversheets easily and instantly depowers which is a pain but got used to it after a while. could have done with another half meter of kite - i guess not many have done much r and d on high wind kites.

i am after an all round c kite - waves and freestyle, cant afford kites for each and dont want to choose between them. it can be gusty here so low depower c kites are not cutting it so much for me any more - i wont ride pullies in high winds and wont ride bridles unless it is pretty much impossible for them to cause a death loop - i real short - i don't trust them. Particularly for surfboard freestyle where i am finding you need depower in order to land strapless jumps if hit by a gust/ to land more easily - strapless front ,back rolls, airs etc..

ok if i find a good priced '12 vegas 10 11 or 12 i gonna get it.. thx for help i ridden a '13 12m vegas - very nice kite

I currently own a 2010 (12m) and 2013, (9m) not apples to apples comparison but here's my observation

The 2010,
Only complaints back stalls a little when unhooked (although WAY better than bow kites) , and slows down a little on the upstroke of a kite loop.
Good upwind, good jumping great depower good low end.

the 2013 has less low end,but generate more power when turned, unhooks as stable as a rock and lops considerably better. generates a bigger vertical kick in the pants when sent.
Also drops you harder.....

I feel the 2013 is closer to the true C-kite as they've squared off the wing tips considerably more.
If I had to choose between the 2 defintely pick the 2013 as improved in all aspects but the low end.

Let me know what you get, and your take on it. compared to other kites you've ridden. I'm in the market for a new 12m.

Funny, cause I think 2013 has way better low end than 2010. 10m 2013 is a golden size.
