Cabrinha skillit 5'6 or 5'10

Postby paulhaslett » Sun Dec 08, 2013 10:59 am

Anyone tried both sizes in this board. I'm 80kg and the website says both will be ok. Anyone my weight surf either of these who can give feedback. 2013 or 2014 as i think earlier years had more volume.

Cheers

I'm 165 lbs (75 kg). I'm not exactly sure about what model years, but I have tried a friends 5' 10" (2012 I think) and demoed the new 2014 5'6". I only rode them strapless. I'm no expert at strapless riding, but the 5'6" was much more fun to me. Seemed like I could get it to turn much faster. I would definitely go5'6" for me.

I had a 5'6" Skillit for a couple of years. I really enjoyed riding it. I'm 87 KG now and was heavier when I had it. I found it had good speed, nice upwind and it had a loose feel to it.I always rode strapless. For me, it was not a light wind board. I rode it with 14m kites but it worked best on 10's and 8's. I had one session on the 5'10 Skillit and for me,I liked the 5'6 better.
I sell kite equipment and we are very large Cabrinha dealer. Last year we did not stock any of the surfboards basically because of the cost. If you can get one on clear out or demo i would go for it but if your paying near retail then there are just as good options for less money. Good luck.

Thanks i am looking for a 2013. I know they have taken some of the thickness from the 2013 & 2014. Out of interest what other board would be similar? I agree i do not see this as a light wind board. Thanks

This year I spent a lot of time on The Slingshot T-Rex 5'4". Really fun! Having 5 fins it can be configured
to get the best performance in the conditions your in. I even took it to Brazil. It fit perfectly in my 165cm golf bag.If you can, give it a demo.
