This is one of the worst place that you can rent a car in Cape Town.
We booked a new golf (2004) and got a old 199x version.
Shortly after the car broke down (30 km from rent a cheapies office) and we needed the road assistance, but they said there would go 4-5 hours before they could get to us.
So we had to wait on R27 in the baking sun, lucky we and the car got picked up by a local guy, so we got back safe.
When we got to the office next day, they wouldn't let us change the car because they would fixe it in some hours.
After a long discussion we got another old car one hour after. Older and in worse shape that the first.
Some days after we decided that we would take a trip on Garden Route, so we contacted Rentacheapie and paid the fee. They needed to check the car first, so we went there. Waited for one hour and was told that it needed new wheels. So we followed a guy into cape town for this wheel change (max 45 minutes they promised). 4 hours later the car was done. The reason for this waiting period was that the guy from rentacheapie own car should get fixed before, so he could leave.
When we returned the car they had a "printed" list of some speeding tickets that we apparently had got. No proofs or pictures just some text.
We made a deal with them and paid R1600 extra for them all.
Now we are back in Denmark and they are still charging us money from our visa card. They don't respond to our mails or calls.
So do yourself a favor: Never rent a cheapie here www.rentacheapie.co.za !
