Where should a newbie learn to kite in July?

Postby JohanER » Wed Jun 18, 2014 6:59 pm

Hi all,

I'm a 23-year old guy, who wants to learn to kiteboard properly during some weeks in July.

Two years ago, I actually did a one-day beginner course, which went very well. Afterwards I bought my own gear, and went out a few times - however, soon after I got a job, which, combined with my studies, took most of my time. Therefore I haven't been out since that.

I remember most of the theory I was taught back then. But I still think that it would be wisest to start up with a little supervision.
I'm from Denmark, so I'm considering a kite-camp in DK - but a spot in Europe/Asia/North Africa could also be cool, and might have a higher probability of wind in july?

Does anyone have some good spots/camps they can recommend? I would be very grateful.
I would prefer a place, which is neither too crowded or expensive.

Btw - I will probably be traveling on my own, so it won't hurt if the place has some social life. :)

Thanks in advance!

Best,
Johan

The med has good wind in the summer, look into a camp in Croatia. There are numerous. Greece too but Gr can get expensive fast.

Hi guys, thanks a lot for all of your inputs.
I think Cabarete must be next summer or later this year - too expensive for me atm. to fly all the way over there from Denmark ;)

I'm currently looking into Croatia. Anyone tried some of the camps/spots there?

Btw. I'm also looking at this camp: http://www.elementfish.com/, which is located in Ofir in Portugal.
The wind and spot itself should be nice for beginners... ?

Thanks! :)
Johan

I enjoyed Paros, Greece a few years ago...flat water and not very crowded so great for learning! It should also be pretty cheap to fly there from Denmark. I hung out with the guys from http://www.paroskite.gr/ and had a great time. Here is a post about Paros in July viewtopic.php?t=2383741&p=834577

Hello,

If you are looking into Asia in the months from may to October? Shocking Windy and IKO teachers in a still hidden spot? Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

Just look at this.

http://www.seabreezekiteclub.com/

Look at the chart also that I have posted for you.

Wherever you may go. Have a great time with a lot of laughs.

Thanks,

Maurice
