Whatever painted object you stick out in "nature" is automatically juxtaposed against it, as in competing with it or judged against it.
And why so many outdoor sculptures are made of marble or bronze or some other neutral, natural color.
Now if all of nature was white like the walls of a gallery it would be a different story. Ego would rule.
So what looks good on a computer screen is usually only at its utmost when viewed there and only for a short while once it hits the water.
Now if they came in a bunch of different shapes we'd have some fun deciding which was best.

On the other hand, how can we get some big companies to start chipping in to put logos on our flying billboards? I have seen the Bud Light Lime kites from time to time. I would be the first to volunteer my quiver if it meant saving some coin.
The BWS kites they sell to schools have the big JEEP lettering. I got one of them used ... and like you, I am happy to give some promo to Jeep if it means a few bucks off. Bonus: it's pretty obvious to anyone when it's you out there, "the guy with the Jeep kite".

Until you can prove that any such difference is big enough for anyone to care or notice...I am putting it in the nonsense category.
Chemicals in the dye colors effect the way uv rays are absorbed into the fabric, causing certain colors to gain porosity over different time periods. I know this to be true from skydiving, and the canopies only saw a fraction of uv rays compared to kiting. Yellow was known to be a peticular bad color.
