I chopped my 24meter lines, damn pansh! they're meant to be 25 arrr what do you expect for $35, they are actually quite good. Anyway I chopped them into 15,5.4 and 3. 15cm a join lost me a bit. Riding the 18m kite on 15m lines was very difficult to get going. I switched up to 20.4m lines. Much better I like this length. The top end is improved and the kite is only a little harder to work. I was thinking maybe 18 might work but I didn't have the time to try. I did how ever make some changes on my kite. No time to change lines again though but I definitely think 18m will work and maybe even 15m now. I would guess some where around the 16-19m would be good for 18m kites.

I just bought an Ozone bar and got the 21m race lines...compared to the 24m lines on my Cabrinha bar, I get why guys are going shorter. You're right, you have to move the kite around more, but once you're on foil and locked into a mode of sailing, the line length doesn't matter at all. I also have to think that taking 9m off your "mast" at the starting line make for closer racing between kiters, which is a good thing for competition and for spectators.

generally it doesn't but some times the wind gradient is such that longer lines are the only thing that will work. I remember having a wave session next to some mountains and I had to hold my kite very near the top of the window on 30m lines, dropping it just a little bit in the window and I couldn't stay on plane. Generally riding near or in wind shadows the longer the lines the closer you can get to them.

In this video:
https://vimeo.com/161444659
..they mention the existence of tech talks from among other Ozone (R1 v2) and Levitaz around 2:20
Nevertheless I cannot find those videos
Anyone?
