We had a small posse up on Engineer Pass area last Thursday. Finally back to the Colorado blue skies that we're used to and spoiled by. Summer is here but that doesn't mean the snow is gone yet. We had SW winds which meant kiting on more southerly exposures, linking together fun ribbons of snow between the quickly emerging rocks, already green grass, and flowers clawing their way through the receding snow.

Any little ribbon of white will do
We are keeping our eyes peeled for some N in the forecast to catch a day up high on the shadier slopes before having to resort to liquid kiting for a few months.

I saw a new post....it's late June....and I thought, "no way, those Colorado guys aren't still snowkiting?"

Love it! That second picture in particular looks like fun. Maybe it's time for the rock skis though, eh?

C,mon winter! Are the days ever going to get shorter? These incessant wildflowers are just killing the kite terrain

While we are currently seeing the first fresh snow on the tops of the high peaks now, I am less than happy with the weatherman! It looks like the odds are not good for the Southern Rockies this coming winter 2017. NOAA is calling for warmer- and drier-than-normal. Dang that La Nina.

Meanwhile, stinkin' Montana looks like they're gonna get hammered. Noah, do you have any open couches to surf? I'm saving up my gas money.

There is fresh snow on the peaks, but not quite deep enough here to ride yet. Who will get first tracks this year? It's been nearly 4 months since the season ended, time for more snowkiting haha.

Funny - I was just checking this thread yesterday to see if anyone had posted. And daydreaming from all the cool pictures from previous seasons.

Man, I am sooo ready for the season to begin.....
