OK, I have this trick in mind, that I've been doing for somehow 15 years now on a twin tip, hooked, unhooked, with or without the Indy grab, ... I love that trick, the way you tend to do a proper vertical backflip, turning around the axis of your lines, with the kite super low.
Now I'm trying to transpose that to strapless, and despite trying that quite frequently over the last 4-5 years, I'm still miles away from landing it or even getting the board to stay close enough to me to have a hope of landing it.

Going downwind with speed, kite low, steep wave,... but no, the board seems to always fly one way (typically upwind and behind me) while I go into the rotation alone.
The closest I've been was on a super steep close out wave with strong wind, where the wave threw the board towards me instead, whacking me in the head during the rotation. That was progress, knowing that my head is only about 6ft from my feet, that was "almost" there...
I suppose that if it was possible to Indy grab super early, that would make things more likely to unfold as expected.
I'm sure I could practice on a strapped surfboard, but then what?

Haven't seen that trick on any of the videos of the strapless demigods. Is it even doable? If so, tips welcome!
If it hasn't been done yet, well, there's a challenge! Get it on film and gain my eternal respect! (and a free 2 weeks accommodation in NZ to teach me)

Yes, nice trick, use to do it a few years ago strapped as an 360 aerial off the lip but have not tried it since I started (exclusively) riding strapless 5 years ago. Will give it a go next time out...

Thanks! In theory, from the first 3 images, the wind would push the board towards you, which should allow the board to stick around for a bit. Then the Indy grab would come into play to secure it until close to landing.
Heavy coat of super sticky wax (any references? ) would contribute well...

On a side note, I always thought that doing the trick one handed from start to finish was freeing up the body a lot more, allowing for more natural rotation along the axis of the stretched arm. Interesting to see it done here with both hands on the bar, and a kite slightly higher.
