Hi Peter,

I am not recommending anybody to get the 41 unless good specific reason are being mentioned (already happened!).
For teaching/schools it can make a lot of sense I believe, after testing while I have been very sceptical about it before.
While saying that I had a lot of fun playing with it today! If a foil with a longer mast is a 'tool' then this is a 'toy' for sure, but isn't it all about fun!?!

Will quickly finish and upload the clip now.

Cheers,
Frank

I even thing that a 71 cm mast is too short. Have you ever tested the Vorace mast with the wave configuration?

Me too, agree...

But the thing is, the customers are asking for these short masts for some reason I havent figured out yet (have heard this from several brands) - so of course it would be stupid not to deliver from the brands

A pity but the way it is.

I have tested basically all Moses 2017 combinations by now, except the 111 mast. The longest in the end...

I had a blast on the 71cm mast today.
I like it a lot.
I mostly see it as an additional 2nd mast.
It also is the only Moses mast that is only offered as a mast and not as a complete foil.

And then I gave the 41 a go.
Actually on the other side of the spit where it normally is too shallow for foiling, even with the 71 I would not risk it.
With the 41 it was way more fun than expected. But of course it is mostly aiming to offer a short mast solution to schools and beginners that believe in this concept and feel more safe with a short mast. Which is a fair reason in my opinion.
Of course this is not a solution to really learn flying the foil consistently, as this is quite hard with this short mast, but to learn to ride and handle the board with this unknown thing underneath.
If it is worth it to buy it as personal equipment can be questioned and most people will say no, but some might say yes and be very happy with it. It's OK, isn't it?
And actually a lot later when the skill level on a 'full' length mast is solid it may become a fun toy again...

This is the quick & dirty raw filmed and cut clip of the 41 test session today:

Frank

I'm one of the customers who asked about a shorter strut(mast). Now I have only 6 sessions, and don't think I need a 71 cm anymore. I was convinced I did 3 sessions ago.....It's not hard to learn on 91cm.
I wonder if it might be more difficult on short mast as you have less margin to ventilation...

Peter - totally disagree. I learned to foil in one day because I had a short mast option. Otherwise it would have taken half a year... Instead, in half a year I can do tight carving turns and early tacks. Short mast are a total gift to newbies. Only thing I worry about 41cm masts for newbies is it's carbon. First short mast will have take a LOT of abuse and bottom hits. Carbon will likely break very early for newbies.

I spent the first two months learning to KBHF on a 70 cm mast then switched over to 90 cm without any problems. I sometimes kite near areas with sand bars so I was always concerned about not being on the foil and hitting bottom initially.
I would not hesitate to do the same learning process over again. I have sold the 70 cm mast (strut:)

Yeah, really. It wasn't pretty the first day, but I was gliding for 30-40 seconds continuously. That's why short wings (15in) are great. The HoverGlide wing looked like it was in battle with chunks missing two weeks after.
