This is rather about normal kites, not kitesurfing kites.

But even then, it's no problem they say.

So, why?
Do you actually believe there is a rational explanation ? Have you never heard of extremism and fanatics? As others said, kitesurfing should be the least of their problems...

everyone should be allowed to kitesurf no matter where you are from or who you are. Maybe if Hitler had kitesurfed he wouldn't have been so angry.

Agree. Alternatively, if Trump kitesurfed he would definitely have a better appreciation for nature, and he would not deny man-made climate change, try to abolish the EPA, etc.

I have been to KSA.

While I agree it's a very tough country for many, I respect their choice to run the country as they do. I don't agree but it is their country.

"Their" ....
being the old grey muslim fanatic men who are in power?

Even if your "their" would be the majority... You respect their choice to make it that very tough country for many?

IMHO an insane statement.

There are liberal countries with a lot of bans on kite surfing for random reasons as well.

Last time I went to France to a surf spot the local mayor was screwing with some of the surfer's spot by trying to make it harder to access spot by car, adding illegal signs forbidding parking.

Zapatta Flying air has just been forbidden all over France, jail time if he doesn't comply:

I respect (begrudgingly) the way they run their country. Would I live there? no.

Respect has a few meanings. Do I admire them? no... do I understand that's how they have run their country for quite some time? yes.

It is one of the oddest places I have ever been and given the choice, I wouldn't go back but I respect the choice for the government to run it like they do. Doesn't mean I agree with it.

So you don't really respect it. You just think they have a god given right to run their country any way they want as long as they can stay in power by keeping everyone else down. Sounds horrible to me but what do I know.
