Sea conditions you'd give up foiling and oppt TT or surfboard

16+ knots, truly fun on a surfboard, under that why bother, foiling has made conventional kiting under that a hassle...

twin tip doesn't come out till 25+, fun loops even then after about 10 loops I go back to the surfboard

Only when I can't get off the beach - dead onshore, pounding shorebreak or too shallow. Otherwise always on the foil.

I generally don't kite now if I can't foil.

Low tide = no foiling for me. When it is left in the car, I leave it covered. When the wind direction or magnitude make it difficult to stay upwind or get off the beach with a conventional shortboard, I opt for finless boards, or a longboard/SUP. I don't get to choose the days I ride based on favorable conditions, so take whatever I can get to make the day sessionable. I usually carry at least 4 boards and at least 4 kites to cover whatever conditions the day throws my way. If your vehicle doesn't have a trunk (lock/disable interior trunk release), I recommend a lockable roof top box, to minimize the glass smash and grab thefts.

Same here. When the wind is 16/18 knots the chop have almost 3 feets tall so your foil goes out of the water every 20 meters so its impossible to edge and goes upwind.

Exactly, I have never seen chop with such a magnitude it is not foilable.

It is definitely experience and skills (but mostly experience/time you need) and you can cope with this much better than other boards

When there is a sweet swell and wind combo that either gives epic wave riding and or boosting of ramp its TT/Mutant time!.

When theres crappy chop and crud waves its foil time.

Several possible conditions (or their combination) for me to switch to TT
- a shallow, 2"-3' deep spot
- a perfect boosting slick/flat or channels
- a strong desire and good company for jumps/tricks/downwinder session
- wind under 7 knots - when kite wants some of attention to keep flying and I'd rather have my feet in my Flydoor XL straps
- wind over 28 knots
- can't reach bottom with my feet and wind is side-offshore
- lots of seaweed in water

After I started foiling the surfboards are just a part of home décor.

Water depth and seaweed are the only things stopping you. If the wind vs. your kite size is manageable on a TT then you can manage it on a foil, maybe you need shorter lines and some getting used to, but it's doable. That said, if there's enough wind to blaze around in the flat water butter, twin tip every time.

i only foil if its <15 knots and waves less than a foot or two. bigger waves than that and I just go surfing, more wind than that and I kite with a surfboard.

foil for me is just a session saver, its fun but id rather ride anything else
