Rebel 2018

If ever there was a kite that needs no introduction it is the Rebel, one of the most popular kites of all time; it is the choice of ambitious freeriders and kiters who like to boost huge airs. It’s perfect for experienced riders and experts alike, offering excellent performance for hooked in cruising and lots of hangtime.
For the first time in the Rebel’s history, it can now be flown on 4 or 5 lines. The 5th line is unloaded for 2018, meaning you can decide the best setup depending on your preference and riding style. The turning speed has been enhanced, in combination with a smoother and rounder turning. The wind range has increased.
While many changes have been made, one aspect has remained constant; the Rebel is still the ultimate boosting machine offering huge jumps with lots of hangtime and glide in the air! All that with the typical Rebel feel you love so much!

It would be interesting to hear the real sales stats for the previous years Rebels. My uneducated guess would be that most of these were sold to already-existing clients (read Rebel-diehards), while most new clients have been steered towards Evos. Let's face it, having a kite like Rebel (and Vegas for that matter) in the lineup is a logistical pita when everything else is being standardized to be steered by 4 connections from - virtually - any bar on the market.
Same time next season they will most likely drop one or the other altogether.

At the North Demo day, the rep was suggesting they were steering absolute beginners to the mono, then on to the Evo for progression and then to the Dice.

Why call it a Rebel ?... won't have it's trademark " short depower stroke anymore ".... achieved with it's loaded 5th half way up...people w/short arms that loved that about it...you're screwed

Relaunch:
Today I saw somebody riding a red 2018 Rebel (with 4 lines) near the Ellenbogen parking lot, north Sylt, Germany. Conditions around noon were crappy, very light and lots of kites were dropping out of the sky. It seemed like relaunching a 4 line Rebel is quite a bit more difficult (no way to tilt the mid strut by 45 degrees with a 5th line).
Depower stroke (see also message above from "PullStrings"):
The Fuse never stood a chance compared to the Rebel when it comes to short depower stroke. I'm curious about what riders have to say about the depower stroke for the 2018 Rebel compared to previous years.
