Agreed. I always downloop my 13m Chrono in light winds when I jibe. I use 20m lines and have no problems as long as I start with my kite high.

Actually I also downloop sometimes when I tack in light winds. I shouldn't really need to, but it can save the tack and keep me from falling in.

You downloop after the tack right? I also do that sometimes to keep me going, it does launch me abit downwind which is not ideal for a tack.

Another good testing day,

I cannot tell you exactly what wind it was, but my guess is that it was slowly starting to go up from 4 knots.

I tested the V2 UL 15m back to back with a Ocean Rodeo Flite 17m, and i could go when the Flite could not waterstart, the diference its something like 2 knots of wind. But then when the wind picked up i could handle the kite in around 14 knots (already very powered up) and the guy on the Flite was completly overpowered on the Hidrofoil.

Its so weird that even very powered the foil kite have very little power in the turns if not downlooped, and 25m lines immediately felt too much in anything over 8 knots.

The upwind angles between the Chrono and the Flite have no comparison at all, i had easily 15º more into the wind.

I have also found that the Chrono v2 handles high wind very well and has great wind range. I have often come in after a windy session and my friends ask me how I managed being so overpowered.. but I really never noticed.. the Chrono still behaves well in high wind conditions.

Pedro, you might like shorter lines. I now ride my 9m and 13m Chronos on 20m lines and my friend rides his 15m Chrono on 15m lines. You probably know that racers often use even shorter lines. The kite feels more responsive and quicker.

try it on 20M lines much more responsive in transitions. I'd say my 18M Chrono v2 on 17M lines feels about as responsive as 15M v2 on 25 M lines (to a point of course it will still get overpowered sooner)

Can you downloop the Chrono 18m with 20m lines?
I have a Speed 4 in 18 and on 21m lines it only works from the very top of the wind window.
Everything else will make the tip touch the water.

Is you Chrono UL fabric?
What is you weight and what is the windrange you use the kite.

The mainly use the Chrono V2 UL 15m for light winds, everything over 10-12knots i prefer to be on a smaller kite, by shortening the lines wont i lose low end? Specially going under 20m lines.

Not much. I've found that longer lines do really help to increase the low end of smaller kites, but with bigger foil kites you hardly lose anything going to short lines. Shorter lines do greatly increase the high end of the big foil kites though!

I now use my 18m sonic2 with 17m or 20m lines, 15m sonic2 with 15m or 17m lines. I think you'd be happier on shorter lines, you could always have extensions for the extra light days. I don't miss my 25m lines even in light winds.

I think the race style foil kites loop tighter than the speed 4 did because when you turn them tight they backstall in place a bit. I have no trouble downlooping my 18m on 17m lines from a stop.

If you are foil-jibing with a downloop you can downloop on much shorter lines because you're moving under the kite as it loops. I've seen a 15m downlooped on 12m lines through a foiling jibe.
