Looking for a commercially available bar I can attach the rope to directly w/o a hook. Not a sliding bar but, a metal bar with no hook. Even better, a hole in the bar to put the rope through with a knot on the inside.

If you can find an old Slingshot bar that had the release hook on it you could just unscrew it and have a bar with a hole in it. Might have been called the Rapidfire(?) bar, maybe 10 years old. Might try to get in touch with Slingshot and see if they have any old stock around?

Thanks! Would the RE carbon spreader work for a Dakine seat harness?

That's what I use but with a custom made sliding unit. Link here:

Sorry, just seen this. I solved this problem by using a 6mm 'D' shackle which the Jay Delrin wheel fits perfectly because the shackle has a 6mm bar and is near enough the right width (iirc I opened it up a couple of mm). I don't use a CL btw.
Onto this 'D' shackle is TIG welded a 25mm x 6mm ring with a section cut out (I simply cut it with a hacksaw). Both the 'D' shackle and circular ring are 316 stainless and a local welding shop did the job for £5. Both have breaking loads in excess of 1,000 kg and the weld can't be far off that.
As far as I can see all you might need is to use a larger ring for your CL. Hope the pics work for you.

I just cut off the hook and ground down the weld.
