How fast can you go on a TT?

Postby GTC » Mon Sep 11, 2017 4:36 pm

Hi all,

I'm curious to know how fast can you go on a twin tip board.

Few days ago I achieved a top speed of 25 knots on my Cabrinha Caliber 133 (probably the fastest tt board I've owned) and a 9m Wainman Rabbit. Wind was about 25 kt and very choppy sea. Maybe I could reach a top speed of +30 kt in less choppy conditions.

I used a Polar M400 watch. Not the most suitable device but it's accurate enough to do some testings.

Regards!

I've done 42 knots on my Axis LTD. That was peak. I can maintain about 38 quite comfortably on very flat water.

Fastest I timed was about 35, but then I couldn't look at the watch anymore. I think once I accepted not being completely in control I went way fast. It was choppy as hell too. Its much easier to ride fast in flat water.

I have the same watch and I think its not accurate enough...I recently had a session with over '200km/h top speed'...:)

However if you export the .gpx track from the watch to the gps action replay freeware its possible to track down a more realistic top speed of the session. (Top speed over 100m, or 10s for example.)

Also gives you a polar diagram.

You're right. To get more accurate information I use to export the .gpx track to Polar Flow and Strava.

You can go pretty fast.

Let's see if Tillmann gets into this discussion, he is a specialist in speed.

34 knots showing on my Garmin Fenix riding my Axis Vanguard. Felt a lot faster!
