Ha! I didn't really hypothesize it, I sanded and filled my wing for hours last year. Spotz 2 front wing is that way.
The moses rear stab I liked seemed to have a very different profile root to tip.
E212 came to me through browsing the comparison tool on airfoiltools.com I don't read all the scientific polar graphs or know much of the heavy stuff
Ya heavy ! I made that 1100 solid and it melted the mold, did I mention 3.6lb
Yes I believe foam core will be normal . Bigger sizes are much stronger from a big curvy skin. . 1 layer of 6 oz is startlig on foam. Maybe floatation would be good for a pro too!

1600cm2 is pretty much where downwind SUP/Surf foil wings are at now, so you are on the right track.

Sure? I thought the large Go-Foil and Naish wings are 1250ish?
I am talking about the most recent foils, not production stuff that is about a year old.

Thanks for the tip-off. I was just about to start on a 1200 wing for small surf. Will now go bigger.

Hi guys,
Thanks for this interesting info. I'm looking at having a go at building (I have not foiled yet). I like playing in the (little and mushy) wave and swell we get around here.
Would a big wing also be ok for the learning curve?
If so how big (I'm 90kg)?
What wing to stab area ratio is used on these?
I was going to keep it simple with a Clark Y profile and fairly straight retagular wing to keep fab as simple as possible. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes. The big wing will make learning pretty easy. We teach on the Takuma V100 at the moment with a 100% success rate. The only thing is that as you are making your own wings, is that it might not be tuned correctly and therefor might not be balanced, making the ride a bit unstable.

Thanks Gunnar,
Been reading up a lot on the French foil builder forum, but yeah I'm aware that might stubble with board wing/ stab balancing.
How big would you go (front) and stab?
Thanks,
Mike

Is it predominantly for kiting or for sup/surfoil?
If its for Kiting then I would not go over 1600, as you will get problems with span with that much area and a short mast

CLARK-Y 11.7% smoothed
Width = 600mm
Chord = 205mm
Thickness = 65% (18mm) Pitch = 1.30°
okume plank (That's what the offcut i found was) - going for a rectangular wing with corners rounded off.
AR is a bit low so hoping for a nice slow easy to use in light wind foil.

I decided to use my foam models instead of fiddling with my molds for another week
I discovered masking tape for handling this 20oz cloth on a bias (45°).
It is difficult to wrap the leading edge especially with 20oz. I used transfer tape on Kevlar on a bias to hopefully hold the wings together instead.
1.layer 8oz uni and one 20oz 2x2 twill so far....
Damn ,carbon is way sexier than straight fiberglass. Kevlar highlights...mmmmm.
I also tried a new method to make a mast with an easy foam mold. I think it might work great, at least once!!

just to mention I also built a front wing out of XPS molds more than a year ago.
the mistake I made was to much anhedral curve but the wing and the whole foil works very well and I still use it sometimes
in this german article you will see at least some photos of the big red front wing (size and profile similar to levitaz cruizer).

Nice Work !!!
Wouldn't using (3) layers of 5.7oz carbon 2x2 Twill ; be easier to work with ?
