Slingshot NF2 Positioning

Postby Ludbey » Thu Oct 12, 2017 12:44 pm

Hi all, can anyone recommend where to position the NF2 slingshot foil in relation to the rear strap position, I am planning to use my Nobile infinity split surf board for my first attempts at foiling but no tracks so will be drilling through the board. I usually ride it strapless and would like to do this with the foil but as a total beginner on the foil the straps may be necessary initially. Thanks in advance for any guidance. cheers T.

the front screw of the rear strap has to be at the start of the back part of the mast plate

Ok thanks Jimmy, I was going to line the rear hole in the mast plate with the front hole of the rear strap, so you are suggesting about 20 mm further forward?

Optimally if you are just starting you will end up with multiple hole sets. I am teaching my GF to rid and we started with it at the very rear of the track on the Alien board...which puts it in the best spot for beginner where the rear foot is even a bit forward of the center of the mast. Weight bias to the front makes things much easier and the first "flying" much more gradual.

Yes I understand, my plan is to try starting behind a boat strapless if I can so I am trying to mount it close to the optimal position as possible.

There's a lot of factors involved, rocker on tail, the foils behavior to name the 2 I have discovered. My foil behaviour is noticeably different on different boards.

This is how I used to ride the lift 2 years ago
Just try, then (eventually), you will make your adjustment

At 3:11 you can clearly see where the holes are in the Nobile Split board for their own foil.

Hi Ludbey, I taught myself to foil with a kite, then recently tried behind a boat. I found the boat much harder than using the kite, especially the initial getting up on the foil. Maybe ok of a sup when your already standing.
I mainly ride strapless surfboards too but use at least one strap when foiling (I use a rear), makes learning to foil a lot easier.
Don’t get disheartened on your first attempts behind a boat, using a kite is easier.
