New foil kite from North, the ACE

Postby cglazier » Thu Feb 16, 2017 6:13 pm

This looks like another good choice for hydrofoiling. I understand that it was developed with the paragliding comapny Advance.
From North's description it does not appear to be optimized for racing, but for more general use.

Pretty weird to come out with a foil kite and no foil.

They have a foil. Its just a little expensive. Wouldnt be surprised if they bring out a new foil soon.

That one with the connected front and tail wing? Yeah there are pics of Jeremy on it all over the website, but you cant find it as a product on their website anymore.

Supposedly coming out with a cheap foil setup soon.
Agree - the last one was not seen much, probably because it was too expensive.
Hard to compete with so many on sale now for low prices

The small chicken loop might be useful for people wanting their bar close to them - if it can be fitted to the regular bar.

I also think the small chicken loop would find a number of clients if sold as a replacement part.

All the people with short arms, or anyone who does not want to unhook (or people who unhook and have exceptionally good aim) could use the extra bar throw, or rather do not need the 'regular' sized chicken loop.

Also, the short leash is interesting too. Avoids getting your leg through the leash when riding strapless and climbing back on in a hurry (I leash to the front of my harness).

Basically the foil bar has some accessories everyone could use, except it is not worth buying a new bar to get a replacement chicken loop and shorter leash.

Hi everybody,

about the new north foil kite, there is already a topic in the foil kite section, where I posted the first impression of a friend, sounds good:

http://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19 ... 68#p964668

We now have the 11,5 m² and 17,5 m² for testing the next days, so I hope there will be wind on the weekend. Anyway muni kiting will work for sure. :D

But if there is enough wind we also will test it on the water to see how is the relaunch, also if it is still cold here :-?
