Leash wrapped around harness hook

Postby Lazze » Mon May 28, 2018 6:27 am

Hi All,

Some of you have proberly tried to have the leash wrapped around the hook in the harness after a pass, and it’s a bit scary.

Mine does it 9 out of 10 times when I do a pass on my right side, I have tried different positions for the leash before unhooking, but I can’t seem to find one that works.

Anyone here have a tip ?

Cheers

I wrap my leash into something so thick that it does not have a chance to get caught on snag on to anything.
I used the soft black spongy rubber tubes used as pipe insulation from hardware store, but now I moved on to (don't laugh) corrugated plastic pipes used for water drainage in washing machines, also from hardware store. Besides being light they are also stiff, making snags even less likely. Works great for me. Zero prestige of course.

:thumb: Good idea, sarc. Most observers are probably left wondering what new technology you've got connected to your kite. :naughty: But doesn't the drainage hose fill with (and retain) water?

It sounds like you guys are doing handle passes behind your backs and you need long leashes.
For most of us, who never do these handle passes, a short leash is the way to go. Here are ones from Ozone and Ion. It is a pleasure never again having a long leash snag on things. Just attach this leash onto your harness straps near your spreader bar.

I have the same issue , happens on my left handside 313s , nearly everytime , while never any issues on the other side ,this just pisses me off so much when throwing the perfect trick and getting stopped half way thru by this f*ing leash ...

I connect my leash to the front using a custom 30cm leash extender made of an old Naish sheeter rope. The length of the rope that could get wrapped around the hook is covered in layers and layers of duct tape which stiffens it and makes it impossible to wrap around the harness hook. Also if i do need to punch out the release is at the perfect distance.

I have noticed the likes of Aaron and co pre-wrapping the leash around his body before starting the rotation. That way he unwraps the leash rather than wraps it around his body.

Actually,

I think that is a line, finger even a bar ends catcher !
It is a dangerous tool waiting to chop your finger off, or worse.

Make yourself a favor and sew a bit of neoprene to cover the clip on those....
