Iberostar Playa Pilar Cayo Guillermo

Postby grtlakes » Tue Dec 11, 2018 5:00 pm

I’m thinking of heading down in April. Having three kids limits options for hotels. I’m looking for opinions from anyone who has stayed at this location.
Thanks.

you could also go to varadero, there are really good hotels and good spots to kite. I was there last month

Hi

I am just back from Guillermo. Stayed at the Sol. Several families with kids there seemed to be having a nice time. Its not posh by any means but more than adequate - depends on your standards...

You might want to look at the Melia if you want a little more upscale. The resorts at the Pillar end of Guillermo strike me as being potentiality a little offshore for prevailing winds. In any case I'd avoid the Sercotel which was nicknamed the "Circus Hotel" due to the mob-scene of kiters.

Lots of lovely beach and shalliw water at all the resorts. I hope you find one that works for your family!

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned that this hotel isn't really ridable. Open google maps and see for yourself.

Pick anything else like Sol or Grand Mithu.

Hey I'm planning Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo in mid march this year. Can you confirm that its a good hotel for kitesurfing? I'm going with my wife and 11 month baby. I'm beginner/intermediate kiter I would like my wife to get some first lessons and start riding. Are spots close to hotel or any kite school we could use?

Do you know what wind conditions to expect? 10/14m kites would be okay for 90kg rider? I bit worries that 14m sb could be too small

Thanks for response, what wind condition did you have?
From Grand Muthu can you walk to nearest kite school?

I’m 92kg and have set of 10 & 14 slightly worried size 14m could be too small.

Read some people recommend Cuba in March for wind
