Re: Armstrong CF 800

For what it's worth, now that I'm winging float is no longer something I think is necessarily a universal *good* thing - as the stabilizers are like sharks in their attraction to devouring wing canopies. Just the difference between the HS1550 and the CF2400 of being able to easily sink the wing, and...

Re: Armstrong Foil is junk

I am currently experiencing issues with my Armstrong setup --- I purchased a new hydrofoil kit, and a board (which are both still in warranty), as well as purchased two more front wings second-hand. As it stands, my largest front wing is most concerning. The fit without screws is loose, and only par...

Re: Cabrinha Moto 10m with small crack. Is it still any good ?

I have a seam that has been like that for about 6 years on an old Cabrinha convert. I never bothered to reinforce it, so you might be surprised how long those things will hang like that, buy you might as well reinforce it on a higher value / more recent kite like the moto to preserve your investment.

Re: Liquid force kiteboarding stops business

Echoing what other folks have said, the LF Foil Fish combo was pretty visionary for it's time (at the time foil packages were like $3,000+, and this was ~$1,600 ... got mine on sale for something like $1,250?). I later 'progressed' to a race foil with a tuttle box mount, then again later went back t...

Re: New competition/game

This is fun, but out of respect for the current situation why not remove those challenges that are a bit 'on the nose' in terms of violating current public health recommendations? (e.g. Multiple ppl per kite, high fives, etc). Would love to see what happens AFTER someone does the cannon-ball move! :D

Re: Best pocketboard for hydrofoil?

Foursquare how is the Armstrong working for you? So I've been meaning to post an unboxing video / maybe a short riding video of first impressions because, at least for me, this was a pretty big financial commitment, and there just doesn't seem to be much first-hand knowledge and reviews of the CF80...

Re: Best pocketboard for hydrofoil?

I'm also riding the Axis Tray 94cm. The board is really nicely made, and I love the alligator-skin style deckpad.

Paired with my Armstrong CF800 I'm finding I have to have the foil at the very back of the track to avoid having to have toes towards the nose.

Re: Are Carbon Bars worth the extra price?

This whole catastrophic failure thing is discussed a fair bit in carbon bike forks, where your front fork snapping is clearly a catastrophe. Not to say I would welcome a bar breaking in half (like on a jump!) - but from the kite's perspective, it would just be a slacking of the steering lines ---- s...

Re: MFC Hydros foils

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I was tempted by the slash-pricing on the MFC, but ultimately there were so many different folks recommending Armstrong, that I had to see what all the fuss is about. Ordered a CF800 package - and should be riding it by this weekend, excited!

Re: MFC Hydros foils

JumtheShark - Can you tell me a bit more? I started on a LF Foil Fish (90cm mast), then rode a Taaroa Sword 2 (100cm mast) for 1-2 seasons but couldn't get used to the speed and unforgiving nature of the sword. Now I'm riding an Axis Tray board (94cm length) with my original LF foil, so am wondering...
