Re: Trimming kite: bar de-power vs. steering line adjustment vs. kite attachment setting

All the kite knows is the difference in front and rear line lengths, where line length is leader+flying line+pigtail. Imho you will be doing yourself a favour if you set the leader+flying line to the normal equal length datum, normal bar check. Then adjust the pigtail knots to have the backstall wh...

Re: Trimming kite: bar de-power vs. steering line adjustment vs. kite attachment setting

It makes a difference for sure. 5 cm can make a kite fly backwards if backlines too short. Also can produce no power if your back lines are too long. You should play with the trims yourself and see the difference. Some people prefer to have the most power in the middle of the depower way. So if the...

Trimming kite: bar de-power vs. steering line adjustment vs. kite attachment setting

Hi everyone! I am riding mainly an RRD Vision (noticed this also with the Passion) and have to say that in lower winds the kite tends to have slack lines and falls to the side. I often ride with fully powered setting on the bar, which hampers the upwind a little (often use the bar stopped at lower l...

Re: Low vs high aspect kites wind range difference

North EVO at 9m is a good step down because it is 1. 3 meters smaller, and 2. Not a super high aspect kite. High aspect kites allow for better angle of attack (upwind, racing) and for more lift in lofty jumping or explosive pop. A high aspect kite in the hands of a beginner will be pure frustration...

High aspect kites give more power than a low aspect kite.
So a 12mt Vision might pull the same as a 10-11mt evo
Thanks! So a 9m vision is somewhat simikar to an 8m Evo...? For 93kg rider as a 2nd kite is recommended?

Low vs high aspect kites wind range difference

Hi everyone, Question, I have a low aspect 12m RRD vision and considering to look into Duotone Evo 9m as a second kite to try out something different. Evo's aspec ratio is somewhat higher - will that mean that I would require larger kite to get the same power as with a low aspect? For example Evo 10...

Re: Bar compatibility RRD / Naish

Looks like the newer (2019/2020) RRD bars are now single front line flag out, so yes no issues at all. The older RRD global bars (2014 to 2017) used a double front line flag out and were verging on dangerous when flagged in high winds, I would not use the older bar. Thanks for that, I have the newe...

Re: New model kite vs. old model (3-5 years)

Just buy used. Who cares if the kite is already that old. If it was not sold for such a long time then there typically is a reason for that. But I also don’t know that specific kite. Either brand new, last years model or used if you find the kite you like. For 800 you really should get last years k...

Re: New model kite vs. old model (3-5 years)

Hi ACD2B, I think it makes a lot of sense. I buy my Religions from all over Europe, get them brand new at 60 to 64% off...perfect. Only slightly above secondhand prices. You just have to be lucky finding the right deal. There will be some kites that have evolved significantly in a few years, but as...
