Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

Question -- what version of iOS will be supported? I got a couple of iPhone 5's that'd be perfect, but they're stuff on iOS12 or something... I pre-ordered a case a week ago and didn't get any confirmation email. Hope it ll work out anyway. Can't wait to test it! Same. Got an error on the form the ...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

would you be able to implement in the APP a weather forecast feed ? Yes.. For another app I've already integrated with Wind guru and I have good relations with the developer of WG. Also a lot of phones have barometers so also changing weather conditions (pressure changes) can be used to alarm rider...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

It will be interesting how accurate this is for jumps. A WOO with a purpose built accelerometer should be a lot more accurate than the built in accelerometer in a phone. My experience is the GPS in a phone (both Apple and Samsung) is very inaccurate versus a specialized GPS. With that said, this sh...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

If phone battery life and/or display visibility are issues, one option may be to turn the phone screen off and stream the data to a watch for display? Yes. It uses approx 10% per hour as we have seen so far. The record screen is black on purpose, this requires no energy on most of the amoled screen...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

Wow, thanks for all the reactions and enthusiasm. Try to respond to most of it in this reply, without repeating all the quotes of others. Watches: a watch can not be used solely without the phone to correctly measure height, unless you tape the watch to the board and the watch should have accelerome...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

If it is an open source project i can help with the development of an smartwatch app or other functions. Thanks! Once we have a stable first version out, up & running we definitely would appreciate any help as long as it fit's the vision for the app. And a smartwatch app is sure part of that vision...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

Woo may not have a "purpose built accelerometer", they are selling very small amount of devices compared to phones so I am pretty sure they use the same components as a mobile phone (and probably an older generation compared to the new phones). The difference is how you use the data you get from it...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

Looks great - pre-ordered. Also assuming safe, having your phone with you is no bad thing if you get into trouble. Great idea. Surprised about the claim on the website that you won’t make any money on this - why not? Assuming it works I think most would be happy to be enough to make sure the compan...

Re: Surfr. New kitesurf jump app?

Hi Thanks, for opening this thread. I'm the developer of the app. Also check the website www.thesurfr.app for more information. I've been developing this app and testing it for months now, tackling a lot of challenges because of all the different phone brands out there. Finally managed to pull it of...
