Re: Armstrong Foil is junk

Stainless steel is stronger than titanium. I do not understand why companies like Armstrong market hype titanium which is weaker and softer than steel. Titanium has a higher strength:weight ratio, that's it. So using it on bolts that weigh a few grams is kind of pointless. i'm not 100% sure on this...

Re: question for ex-Wainman kite riders

i am an ex-Wainman kite rider myself, and have never found a kite i like as much as the old rabbits. the more i test different kites, the more i feel kites are getting worse, not better, over time.... Many of us who have held on to older designs, long after they were surpassed in performance, are h...

Re: question for ex-Wainman kite riders

i thought about ON kiteboarding kites, as they do seem to have that Wainman-look, though I'm not sure Lou is actually involved (not that that really matters). but you just never hear anything about them. not sure they're long for the world. As for the NEO's, I don't understand why people like those ...

question for ex-Wainman kite riders

i am an ex-Wainman kite rider myself, and have never found a kite i like as much as the old rabbits. the more i test different kites, the more i feel kites are getting worse, not better, over time. or maybe i'm just getting fussier in my old age. anyway, have any of you found a kite that you feel mi...

So really for 10-20 you need 2 kites.
especially for foiling. for me, 10-13=16M, 13-16=12M,16-18=8 or 9M, 18+=6M.

Re: Kite foiling is dying sooo fast

when you say 'bad shoulders' is winging bad for shoulders? I have had surgery on mine after dislocations so very wary of any sport that might put them at risk of dislocating again. Is winging a bad sport for people with shoulder dislocation issues or a different shoulder problem? i have arthritis i...

Re: Kite foiling is dying sooo fast

winging takes more wind. i only see wingers out when i'm on an 8m kite or less. in that sense, it is like windsurfing. and yes, i had the gear and tried it. not for me (had bad shoulders already). i see the point of it in limited/difficult launch spots, but around here on the open ocean, kite foilin...

Re: Foiling In Super Light Wind

i agree with everyone here that 14-16 mph is hardly 'super light wind'. that's more like 'time to go with my 9M kite' when foiling. but stretched lines will not cause his reported problem...unless the flying lines are getting stretched, which i've never heard of. normally just the center lines stret...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

i admit i haven't read all the 140+ pages of this thread, so maybe this has already been answered. But the 30 or so pages I have read seem to indicate this kite in a 13M isn't a good light wind kite. I guess i don't understand why it wouldn't be given it's lightness. I'm looking into getting a foili...

Riding toeside with hook is always wrong. If you have not problem with it you just dont know about it.
riding toeside with a hook is fine for me. if it's a problem for you, i guess you have a problem you know about.
