Re: Snowboarding recommended stance for kiters

Depends on the type of snowboarding I would say. There are snowboards that you simply cannot ride duck very well, as they are not designed for it. I rode a Stranda Cheater for a while, and that baord is impossible to ride unless you are setup full carve. There is no advantage to riding a directional...

Re: Sad loss today

I pulled a guy out of the waves quite close to the shore. He was struggling with a downed kite in high waves. The resque service were watching him, but I think was not allowed to go in without gear and backup or something. I went in as fast as I could, I was wearing a drysuit with a bit of floatatio...

Re: Snowkiting season is on in Norway!

nice ! Is it normal in October? or way earlier than nromal? It's not that unusual to have some snow even earlier than this, but it can also still melt a few days later if the weather changes. In November more likely to have low temperatures on the plateaus throughout. I have snow at the cabin now, ...

Re: Flare Moustache vs. foil kite

This is pretty interesting. But I have hoping to use a kite as a glider so I would not need to have two of the same for foiling and flying. But with the mods that seems unreasonable. I have no complaints about the Moustache, it's pretty nice. A friend also flew the Puffin and did not find the windra...

Flare Moustache vs. foil kite

Hi, I've searched here but have not found much info. Has anyone flown a Flare Moustache for soaring and also has experience with foil kites? I know they are completely different things, but to me the Moustache feels more like a foilkite than a paraglider (I have flown paragliders as well). Risers on...

Re: Minimum buy-in: $2500

I paid 400 for a Peak 4 with bar, 100 for a second hand twintip. And I already had a wetsuit but lets say another 200. If you choose your kite size smart, you can kite with this 40 days a year where I live. So not that expensive at all. I think most people get a little carried away with gear instead...

Re: Peak size bigger than 6m

11m is fine. If you're going uphill in tricky terrain a lot an 8m might be better for you as it loops easier. I have 5, 6, 8, 11 and never needed a 13. On snowboard in deep snow is what I ride mostly. Just to make sure I understood you right: on Snowboard, deep snow you ride mostly the 8 right? Yes...

Re: Best time & place in Netherlands

I would add Texel for wave riding as well. It can be a slightly windier there sometimes. And when the rest of the coast will have offshore conditions or low wind with east or south east winds, you can often still kite there. September can still feel like summer here, and has half decent wind usuall...
