Re: Pumping foil section/airfoil?

It seems there is some dispute over the differential flow theory. Angle of attack and displacement are larger factors.

Re: Wrinkles, WTF

Very helpful. In Downunders video he uses perf film as first layer, then nylon peelply, then breather. He got great results, but I am confused how this order can be interchangeable, as I thought nylon went first then perf film. Also, I have noticed a shortage of videos showing layup process start to...

Re: Wrinkles, WTF

Can I leave off the release film and just go laminates, nylon peel ply, breather, bag? Thank for all other suggestions. Strangely enough, the bag looked just like your photo with all the bag wrinkles on opposite side of layup. My wrinkles came from perforated film directly on layup, and not from my ...

Re: Wrinkles, WTF

Thanks builders. I think I failed by not using peel ply and thinking that perforated film did the same thing. While sanding the wrinkles down it was evident that I went through most of top twill layer and partially into the unidirectional in some spots. This leaves one fully intact base layer 3/4 of...

Re: Wrinkles, WTF

Yes, 15 inches of mercury or .5 bar. New theory: the perforated ply was unable to let enough resin pass through it and the wrinkles are excess epoxy with nowhere to go. This, combined with not enough vacuum...also I am not sure of the maximum number of layers you can get away with while doing a sing...

Wrinkles, WTF

This is a sandwich construction XPS with 3mm divinycel top and bottom. This bottom layup is 2 layers of 6 oz carbon and 1 layer of 6oz uni. Applied them with wet layup technique on plastic sheet. Everything was very smooth no wrinkles or bubbles. Used perforated peel ply to wrap board then breather ...

Re: Turbulence while riding

As stated in posts. I don't have anybody to trade boards with or get feedback. Ventilation happens as you described, but is a noticably different phenomenon. I track all my sessions and my avg cruising speed is only around 14mph, could this be too fast for the foil to be stable? Again, just very cur...

Re: Turbulence while riding

Thanks all. I can add that the lake has no debris. Also this bumping turbulence is pretty constant. I have noticed ventilation with air getting trapped in foil, but this goes away while the yaw and roll jerks don't. The question I am most interested in is this: When riding small chop with similar si...

Turbulence while riding

I ride a cloud9 s24 foil, which is the same design as the LF Impulse. I have about 25 hours on this foil and no experience with any other wings. While riding at my local spot there is typical 1-2 ft chop and avg wind is 15 knots. I am unsure if it's normal, but while cruising the ride is not smooth,...
