I truly believe the popularity of winging is due to age...

Winging = a retirement sport in my book.

That’s because it’s expensive. It’s much more physical than kite foiling.

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

I haven’t tried wing yet, but want to. The only thing I see as a maybe a downside is the lack of view compared to a kite. How much does the wing in front of you hinder your view? Are wings with windows better and do you get used to it? Primarily a beginner issue. You get used to it. If you stay awa...

Re: Nice helmet with space for a neoprene cup/hood

Ive heard the Manera soft helmet runs very large. Its flexible too, so it should conform to a variety of head shapes. I don't use it, but based on feedback of the sizing, thought it might be worth a shot.

I use a Gath helmet and it definitely runs small.

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

I went from kiting to 100% winging about 5 years ago. I'm much better at winging than I ever was at kiting, so factor that in. Bottom line is that its a personal preference thing and there is no right or wrong answer. I have a ton of friends who prefer to kite and I totally appreciate that. Here was...

Re: Best beginner destinations in the world?

I'd add Turks and Caicos (Long Bay) to the list. Excellent spot for beginners and winds are typically still good in June.

Could be wrong, but June may be too late season in La Ventana.

Re: The future of foiling

For those saying Foildrive or efoil is the future... not everyone wants a motor. The guy did say he's looking for no wind options and unless you live somewhere with decent swell you have 2 options: - a motor - dock pumping Fair point. I was generally responding to the dialogue around the future of ...

Re: The future of foiling

For those saying Foildrive or efoil is the future... not everyone wants a motor. Part of the beauty of our sport is tapping into wind and swell and having that purity and connection to nature. The ability to toggle between wind and wave energy with a wing is truly special. As someone previously ment...

Re: North shift lock

Weight was a key decider weither the project went to market. It actually works out lighter with the boom and about the same with 2 x 400mm handles when compared to fixed handles. As the track distributes the loads over larger area, there doesn't need to be the same level of reinforcement around han...
