Re: A kite that turns super fast with the least yank

Very simple: you can't jump high enough on a kite that doesn't pull. Try jumping on a dedicated wave kite or worse, a single skin foil kite and see if you can still hit 10m+ Oh, and if you do. You will be falling down like a brick as they don't have any hang time. I’m looong way away from daring to...

A kite that turns super fast with the least yank

I’m wondering why experts don’t recommend kites that turn really fast with minimal possible (compared to other kites of course) yank for learning powered kiteloops? To be more specific for people who can heliloop and want to have the “safest” progression to powered kite loops, wouldn’t wave kites be...

Re: How is Chicago wind Sep 16-Oct 5?

Thanks for the reply! I had no idea Montrose beach's IKO certificate requirement is actually enforced! That's a real bummer. I read about it but didn't imagine they actually enforce it KOGL looks pretty cool. Also it does look like there will be some wind that weekend. Not sure if I can make it due ...

How is Chicago wind Sep 16-Oct 5?

Hello folks, I'll be in the area for the next 3 weeks. I'm curious what I can expect in terms of the wind. I only ride a twintip. Sunday (Sep 16) seems windy but there is also some rain in the afternoon. With that kind of North wind, does the actual wind go by the forecast or higher or lower? Also, ...

Re: Consistently landing 7-10m jumps without heliloops

I understand what he means. Its sort of a bad habit of mine that I have when I'm lazy. My understanding of what is going on as follows. Imagine riding starboard tack (towards the beach at KOTA). As you send the kite its going to go slightly past 12 which is going to help you rotate back to a neutra...

Re: Consistently landing 7-10m jumps without heliloops

that's a problem of smaller, faster kites. Easier to time with a bigger kite. BUT, easier to save a forward or backward flying kite with a heli loop if faster. Yes, I'm talking about smaller kites. At our local spots if anyone is jumping 7m+, its usually with a 6-9m kite Those who heliloop with fro...

Consistently landing 7-10m jumps without heliloops

I see many people at our local spots who can easily land 3-5m jumps but struggle to land 7m+ jumps. I used to have my own struggles landing 3-4m jumps, but after discovering this trick, I rarely miss my landings for jumps up to 10-11m. So here's my little landing secret. Land as if you're doing a tr...

Re: Bar Pressure comparison

Rebel > XR > Dice > Evo sls > North Reach Most kites bar pressure increases progressively the more powered you are. XR seems to be an exception to that where the increase in bar pressure is smaller compared to others as you get powered I’ve extensively ridden an 11m Evo sls and rode 7m North reach f...

Deathloops on launch are a thing. I've been launching like this for years without any issues. Jus' sayin'....
This definitely looks interesting. I'll try it next time. Do you also use this method for self-launching?

Re: Strange situation with lines - Any explanations?

Thanks for raising some great points. Knots Slipping.. Unlike my Duotone trust bar, the sentry bar doesn't seem to have any knot adjustments hidden near the bar floats. The slingshot bar has multiple knot options (separated by about an inch each) at the end of the lines. For the 3rd and 4th launches...
