Re: Mancora advice: fly into ecuador or lima/airline experie

So... I've spent much of my day doing even more research. It seems (at least for october), the only airlines going to Piura (or Tumbes) is LAN. That would be fine, but they charge WAY more for foreigners than for local peruvian residents. Even if one was able to book the lower rate (from a travel ag...

Re: Mancora advice: fly into ecuador or lima/airline experie

Sadly... we are supposed to leave on Tuesday, and our flights were booked ages ago (way before any of this happened). We're also fully pre-paid for a very expensive non-refundable galapagos trip, so just going to Mancora isn't really much of an option. Our flights are already into ecuador! Again, an...

Re: Mancora advice: fly into ecuador or lima/airline experie

wow.... this really sucks :( I've been planning our honeymoon for months and we're first planning on going to the galapagos (which is now in jeapordy do the political situation in Ecuador) then travelling down to Mancora for some kiting. Re: Mancora advice: fly into ecuador or lima/airline experie

This is an interesting post, as I've been looking for a lot of the same answers recently as well! We're heading to Mancora in just a couple of weeks, and will be traveling down from Guayaquil. I've done a ton of research into this, but its still really hard to figure out when (and which buses) leave...

Yes, It was crowed.... but I was there in November (the busiest time). I imagine that lagoon can be fantastic at other times of the year.

Re: Buggy/car rental in Brazil

Fair enough, any opinion is biased. But, I don't have investments in any kite area, Brazil or otherwise - so that's what I meant. I was just a regular kiter tourist, nothing else.

Re: Buggy/car rental in Brazil

I actually opened this topic over a year ago - and have since been to Brazil (spent 3+ weeks kiting) and returned. We also traveled to other parts of Brazil (not for kiting). Had a fantastic trip and rented a normal car for the whole time. Got a good deal on it (equivalent to $25/day). We were there...

Re: united airlines(Maui) charged $175 for legal size/weight bag

A bag with a kiteboard and a couple kites is huge and way over the size limit anyone can look at it and tell. Kiteboard bags are much larger then any true golf bag so if your going to be traveling with it on a US based airline be prepared to pay. I travel with a true golf bag that I bought at Costc...

Re: Fatality in Cumbrae Scotland

This article suggests it might have been a windsurfing accident, or perhaps even surfing? (mid way down) http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2009/08/02/tragedy-as-watersports-instructor-killed-in-freak-accident-78057-21565580/ Regardless of the sport - condolences to his family, he sounds...
