Re: new smaller foil board is less maneuverable

Keep experimenting with your stance. I’m 6’2’’ and my current board is 89cm / 2’11’’. First few sessions I felt tons of front foot pressure and my front foot was at the edge of the board. I was holding on for my life on that board! The board also doesn’t have a track, just 4 inserts for the mast pla...

Re: new smaller foil board is less maneuverable

Happened to me on my last board change. I was wondering if maybe the new board is less rigid, but it got much better after a few sessions of messing with my stance.

Re: Alula Roam or Rise 12m

Haven’t flown either of these but have been foiling for 2 seasons now. I think it depends on how you want to foil. If you want to foil like a twintip rider, then the Rise will work great. If you want to foil like a surfer, then you’ll want the Roam. Since you mentioned only foiling until there’s eno...

How well does the Roam A or HL turn when the bar is sheeted out or trimmed depowered?

E.g. the other day I was foiling a 6m Airush One and found that it turns great with the bar sheeted in but barely responds to the bar at all with the bar sheeted out (despite trimmed fully powered).

Re: How difficult are the various foiling discplines?

kct, are you kite foiling with your prone board? Those make kite water start super hard. Try a smaller foil board (for kite or wake) with 10-20L of volume and a front half hook, super easy.

Re: How difficult are the various foiling discplines?

I learned to kite foil first and then later to wing foil (still a beginner). I found kite foiling 10x easier to learn than winging. If you already kite foil, winging on foil is easy, but getting up on foil with a wing is a whole journey in itself if you’re learning in choppy waters with poor wind.

Re: Moses SABfoil

I kite a w800 s399 m92 and it’s awesome except for ventilation on wing tip breaches in deep carves. Instant crash for me. Have to get low and close to the water when carving.

Can also wing it but only tried once. 95 kg beginner and needed 20 kts to get up.

Re: Foiling in shallow water

Only tried this once and in lighter winds, but what seemed to work was to do a kind of “load and pop”: I’d dive the kite while edging the board against it instead of letting it pull me forward, then pop up from the edge right up to foil.
