Re: cheap kite suggestion

Get chatting to your local kiters. Ask if they have a WhatsApp group and can you join it. Ask if anyone is selling any kit, or if they have advice on buying gear. It's better to buy a used kite to learn the basics on. Either buy used kite with bar. Or just kite, then buy any brand low-v four line ba...

Re: Core XR quiver 8m-10m vs 8m-11m

Think adding a 130cm or 132cm board that can hold down power is an easier way to widen your range. You would have a lot more options and range with a 2 or even better, a 3 board quiver. Ask to borrow a smaller board to try from another kiter at your local spot and see what it offers in terms of rang...

Re: A kite's useful life expectancy

Sounds around normal. Do you kite in tropics, or cold wet climate? Do you have a 3 kite quiver with 9m in middle. If so is 40 a realistic number of sessions on the 9m compared to your bigger kites? Even 20 sessions per year x 8.5 years is 170 sessions. If you purchased the kite for $1200 it would wo...

Re: Intermediate Progression Board - thoughts?

Any of the above boards will serve you well. You also need to consider how much comfort you want. Eg if you are 23yrs old and want to boost big air, go for the super duper carbon models. These will be hard on knees, especially in UK chop/ short period swell. If you're in your 40s and your knees have...

Or if you didn't bring the right kite size with you, you can weave a kite.

You just need some thread, a few needles and some glue.

Re: Stopping when overpowered

Thoroughly check forecast before you go out. Before setting up, check wind range at the beach with a wind meter. If larger gusts, use a smaller kite and bigger board. Eg if 15-25mph rig a 12m. If 15-30mph rig a 9m or 8m. The kite will handle the upper end / gusts The bigger board should keep you goi...
