Re: Maine snow kiting?

I live on MDI/Bar Harbor and am always looking for folks to kite with. Not exactly southern/central Maine but I'm pretty much the lone kiter in these parts and it is always better with others....and as Chris said, you're always going to drive a bit to get the goods...I do still spend a bunch of time...

I just got one of these... https://www.slick.video/products/slick Its purpose built for the go pro. Haven't used it kiting yet but have used it alpine skiing and nordic skating...pretty happy thus far. My brother has also mounted it on the deck of his pilot boat off the Maine coast. Re: Snowkiting - are people losing interest?

No loss of interest here. I taught myself to kite in Downeast Maine in 2003 and have been going at it ever since. I can count on two or three hands the number of times I've ever seen kites other than my own (and those are people I know). I'm usually just sharing the lakes with sleds and fishermen. I...

Clip into the belay loop. That's what they're made for.

Any safe lakes to kite on in Maine?

I live on MDI and am looking for any safe lakes (or other terrain) in the state. All our local lakes are sketchy right now.

Thanks in advance,

Alden

I have used a climbing hasness fitted with a kiting spreader bar. I used six inch bar on an alpine harness from Wild Things (a Black Diamond Alpine Bod also works) that doesn't have a belay loop so i didn't have to be clipped in with a biner. It works but I much prefer using a real kiting harness. W...
