Re: The Duotone wing

I am watching developments in these things with increasing interest. I have dabbled with surf SUP foiling and it's a bit limited because of the need for surf and water depth. Adding a kite wing thingie might make a surf SUP foil a lot more useful. I see it letting me use the winds that we can't use ...

Re: Wingsurfing - Intel - forum topic?

I don't know about the general public getting into wing surfing. I suspect it will be too expensive and too hard for them. I have friends who own and use a SUP, and really enjoy themselves, and never actually stand up. Sit Down Paddleboard? For me/us, there's a chunk of wind we don't really use kiti...

Re: The Naish Wing-Surfer

I am very interested in the wing surfer. I'm not rushing out to buy one yet, but I am keen to see if it lives up the the hype. I see a few applications for it. At the moment there are weather conditions that are not quite right for kite foiling or SUP surfing or prone surfing, or you have to carry g...

Re: Flying footswitch learning time

There's two kinds of flying foot switch. Front foot and back foot. The one you see in all the videos is front foot. You keep the front foot in position and move the back foot forward. That's quite hard and takes a lot of timing to get right. The back foot switch is where you position the back foot i...

Re: The future is big wing small kite.

To me the sweet spot kite size for foiling is 1/2 the size of the surf kiters and down to 1/3 the size of TT. I can get away with going smaller but I normally only do that when the forecast is for the wind to pick up. I generally prefer to have a bit of power to play with. Power adds stability when ...

Re: Titanium Screws

I have been using countersunk 316 hex head screws for years. The screws last fine but the hex head gets chewed out. Using a high quality wrench helps but that just delays the inevitable. It's only a minor nuisance. You can buy a bag of screws for a few dollars and keep them in the car. When the wren...

Re: Gear for going fast

My "faster" foil is a J Shapes Freeride. It's about 750cm flat area, 5.9:1 flat AR. Projected are is more like 680cm and 4.9AR. 95cm mast. It's plenty fast for blasting around. Not breathtakingly fast in pure speed conditions. It's all pretty stable and getting bucked off at speed is not a huge conc...

Gear for going fast

I'd like to go faster. I am hitting terminal velocity in the mid-20 knot range with my surf kites and freeride foil. What gear will give me the biggest speed boost? I was thinking of buying a foil kite then getting a race foil and board. Answers to a similar post in another thread suggested a foil k...

Re: Aluminum vs. Carbon Mast and Fusalage

I have had aluminium. I now have carbon. There is almost zero chance I would return to aluminium. The only way I would consider aluminium is if my current gear got destroyed and I was not able to replace it. Even then I would go to extreme lengths to buy something similar to what I have before I set...
