We could sell way more kites & gear if prices were 20% less and even more if they were 50% less. ...
That would be Switch kites. The kites and wingdings are every bit as good as the big brands, the service is excellent, the prices exceedingly reasonable.

Re: looking for bar to foil with

I've had every kind of shackle self release. I wouldn't use a kite without some kind of backup attachment. The other day I bumped my chicken loop twice and it released both times. I was able to re-assemble the loop and hook in without stopping. I was pleased with that. :-) The early bow kites worked...

Re: 30 year old woman missing in Argentina

I'm not a fan of the PLB. It sits there and does nothing for years and then you throw it away and get a new one. It only works if you press the button. Even the compact ones are a but bulky. I used SPOT and Inreach for years. They're both pretty good. The Inreach possibly better. I was able to call ...

Re: Harness for winging

It's easy to sew yoga mat up to about 10mm with a domestic sewing machine.

Alternatively, sew a sleeve of ripstop fabric and push the EVA inside it. Put a second sleeve or some webbing tabs or velcro for the belt to pass through.

Re: looking for bar to foil with

I´m using the Kauper Pintxo Bar since about 1.5 years for foiling: https://en.kauper-xt.com/bar .... I bought the Pintxo bar to try a carbon bar because so many people were raving about using carbon bars, and I liked the idea of the rear line trim. I've still got it and keep it as a spare. I didn't...

Re: looking for bar to foil with

... I just checked my LFMC bar. 38 cm of trim. I just wonder what to do for my wife and her short arms? I suspect you are measuring the amount of line pulled through the trimmer. The travel of the trimmer is only half that. You could do lots of things for your wife's short arms. - A seat harness lo...

Re: looking for bar to foil with

I've seen the AV8 bar. It doesn't give you more depower travel. It just gives you less pressure on the depower line. All that extra line is taken up by the 4:1 pulley system. Most 4:1 race systems don't actually give you all that much more trim to pull, just less pressure on the line. That makes sen...

Re: looking for bar to foil with

I'm not sure why people feel they need ultra-lightweight bars for foiling. I have a very light carbon bar and it works ok, but it doesn't have the padded ends and bungie line holders that you get on normal bars. I don't feel the featherweight bar adds to the experience of kiting. The weight of any b...

Re: Light Wind Twin Tip

I made a lightwind TT out of marine ply about 15 years ago. It was fantastic but a bit heavy. I had a custom board builder make a copy using snowboard construction. I still have it and it's still fun to ride on the rare times I use it. A friend has the original plywood model and he still uses that. ...
