Why do you need an ankle strap? Ive even cut it off on some boots. Maybe because I have a low instep but never felt that it does anything Are we talking bout the same merl? Not sure... The (high) ankle strap prevents water flushing in when you crash, and it prevent the boot from rolling "up" inside...

I've been a happy Atan user for a few years but this year I have moved to Solite 3mm. I've been a happy Atan user for a few years but this year I have moved to Solite 3mm. I had a Quark gimbal but as you can't get it wet it they can stop working very quickly.

Really interested to hear the responses to this as I am trying to decide between the two as well. I'm worried the extra size of the Max has the potential to cause line twists and wrapping on the line mount.

I would say yes as long as you stick to the lagoon end where all the schools teach and wait for high tide

Yeah, heavy boards suck, in light winds esp. for strapless freestyle at least, less so in better winds.
