Re: Doubts about North kite foil setup

I have the MA1050 v1, it is ok for kiting, but I prefer a lower aspect wing for kiting. It is a good wing, but I think would probably be better for winging. It is not as playful as my (broken) lift classic 170, nor does it offer any meaningful advantage on the low end. In kiting you don’t really nee...

Re: Costa Rica in January 2024

If you are not planning to go to Playa Copal or Arenas, I’d say leave the kiting gear at home. You’ll probably not see good conditions, and even if you do, there is a lot of other stuff to do. If your plans change and you will be near playa copal in winter, definitely bring gear, especially your sma...

Re: Going to Costa Rica

Going to Costa Rica in February 2024, have not been there before. Looking for information on kiteboarding school, and accommodation suggestions. Second all of this. If you are going in February, bring small kites. Last time I was there I met a guy who came down for 2 weeks and never got out once be...

Re: the big dilemma: Pump vs Foil?

Demo the ufo, best kite for foiling i feel Almost drifts as good as the peak, the peak was fun but annoyed the shit out of me I have a 3m ufo and a 3m peak4. The peak is a much nicer kite in my opinion. The ufo isn’t bad, and there are definitely downsides of a single skin kite, but peak is much ni...

Re: Launch kite in very small beach

If the waves aren’t too big, I have good luck with drift launch. Regularly kite with nearly non-existent beach. Drift launch works great once you work out the process. Lay out lines as normal, strap in chicken loop, walk to kite and seal out to water by leading edge, then walk up wind as much as pos...

Re: Super cheap but good board - board prices are insane

You can build one really easily. Divinycell foam, add some rocker, coat with some carbon fiber. Mine has been holding up for years. Perhaps $250 in materials. It is very stiff and very light. It doesn’t have complex bottom shaping, but if you stay on foil most of the time, that doesn’t matter.

Re: Slingshot UFO V2 vs Ocean rodeo roam aluula

Have Alulla roam in 6/9 and ufo v1 in 3m, and only a few sessions on each, so not a perfect comparison. I got them after using flysurfer peak 3/4/5 for a couple seasons (love them, but a bit sketchy in bad conditions). Alulla def has more crossover potential to surf or twintip. I like the roam A, bu...

Help me pick a wing foil

I would like your help picking out a wing foil. I recently lost part of my finger to a kite line, and this has me looking at Winging with a new level of enthusiasm. Weight: I’m about 75 kg / 155 pounds. Ability: I have been kitefoiling for about 5 years, and I am quite competent. Perhaps 200 foiling...

Re: But really, why are kite lines strong?

Intramolecular bonds, the forces holding atoms within a molecule together, are incredibly strong. Much stronger than the bonds that hold adjacent molecules together. Atoms within a molecule are really hard to split apart, while two molecules stuck together come apart pretty easily. I understand that...
