Re: Anyone pack their foil kite like a paraglider/ppg wing?

Someone please demo this on an 8m foil kite on a beach in 20 knots of wind. I only concertina my Marabous on grass, or back home in the garage. On grass, as long as I use my sandbag to hold the stack down when rolling the other side, the wind isn't a problem. I just do a quick roll-up on sand, save...

Re: Anyone pack their foil kite like a paraglider/ppg wing?

I fold my Marabou's somewhat in this fashion. Roll from the tips toward the center keeping the battons flat, leave the middle 4 cells to sandwich at the end. Makes it easier to fit in the bag.

Flotation

Recently I had to swim in for the first time in many, many years. I wasn't wearing a pfd or impact vest, kite was Marabou (not LEI), and the board was a SS 42" DC. So out of the three, only one thing could float me in (the board). Do you choose your session gear based upon the possibility of having ...

Re: Kiteboarding apps for Garmin watches

Thanks for the Max speed field, I'll add that to my activity I use when foiling. I use a Forerunner 645, no issues with water and durability. I've been very happy with it. But, the altitude measurement when kiting is really bad. It goes off of air pressure, which changes with the wind. I'll get alti...

Re: Do you step off gracefully?

Going slow, deep water, jump off, catch board going up with arm. Biggest risk is to shoulder, just gotta be going slow.

Re: Do Peak4 kites work with waveboards?

Not a Peak, but I tried my 12m Marabou with a strapless SB once last summer. No issue getting upwind, better low end than the kite it replaced (17m Blade Fatlady), and it drifted better of course.

Re: 15 Manufacturers Advance To Factory Inspections In IKA Formula Kite Registered Series Production Scheme For Paris 20

I could not find any reference to exclusion of a brand for having prices too low, only if too high (from a couple pages into https://www.kiteclasses.org/equipmentregofoilkites) "Criteria leading to the decision not to recommend a builder to World Sailing for licensing include: ... Retail price in ex...

Re: Kitech FRS

At 155lbs, on a Lift 170 Surf, with 32gr. 9m FRS, 21m lines, comfortable down to about 8-9mph of wind (flat bay water). 12m FRS 32gr, comfortable down to about 6-7mph of wind. I don't expect the 27gr versions to extend that, but just be able to stay up in extreme lulls.

Re: Kitech FRS

All kites from Kitech can be ordered in either fabric. I have two of the 12m and 9m (each), 32gr and 27gr. I haven't used the 27gr in either to really experience the difference. Hopefully soon I'll be back on the water.
