Re: Gear for going fast

I also have J shapes freeride and agree it tops out at 22-24 knots despite being stable at speed. I like it for high winds for this reason because I know it is speed limited. I have heard of guys who have pushed one to 30 knots but I can’t. My Spotz Shark is a lot faster especially off the wind and ...

Re: Levitaz bionic vs Moses Comet?

I think this is the wrong forum for you. There dont seem to be many racers frequent these pages. It all depends on how committed you are to push it to the top. You could ask your question on the kiteracing facebook page or the kiteracing2hand facebook page. There may be someone answers thats near yo...

Re: Disadvantages of larger foil wings?

They are boring
Ok for learning and surf but didn’t we all get into kitesurfing because we liked the buzz of hooking into that Raw power. I like to get my heart rate up when I do sports.

Re: Are fast foil wings dead outside of racing?

No way, slow foils are boring. I have both and hardly ever use my slower wings. I love speeeeeed and the buzz of high speed in light winds. I also like them in strong winds too. Fast foils jump better, and are generally better quality stiffer foils too. Once you are comfortable with the speed they a...

Re: 21m Race Kites

I think the 21m kites allow a couple of knots better low end for racing. A recent event here saw winds in the 4-6 knot range. I could barely fly my 15 but those with 21s and 19s could race, but then the wind backed off even more and all but the very best riders went in the drink. If you are going to...

Re: The Duotone wing

Wow, alot of negative feedback here. I seem to remember alot of this being said about kites back in the day. Cant go upwind, dangerous, Ill keep my windsurfing gear for high wind blah blah. Here we all are 20 years on. Foils have suddenly reinvented what is possible on the water. Im glad that there ...

Re: Upcycling older R1V2s

agree to differ, there is no way to get to every cell through the inflate or deflate holes on a R1V2 and the cell seams are on the inside so you still need to cut the canopy to get in, and you cant sew the seams shut without another way in. The inflate holes have a mesh covering sewn over them and a...
