Re: Wingfoil - is it truly the best for really gusty winds? Better than Peak4?

The point is that (on the assumption you are riding a wing board that will float you) with a wing if there is a massive lull, your means of propulsion doesnt end up in the drink, and if theres a massive gust its easier to control the power. No way would I want to kite in offshore conditions where I ...

Re: Wingsurf/wingfoil, foilwing size

For winging 90cm seems good or you breach too much, but for SUP foiling 75cm is my go to. Its really hard to pop up a 90cm mast in surf. I think it has something to do with the wave energy being near the surface. Tow surfers can use 90cm. Dont know how the DW boys can paddle up on a 90cm mast. They ...

Re: Wingsurf/wingfoil, foilwing size

I find it very difficult to make meaningful comparisons between foil brands because all the big names-- Axis, GoFoil, Signature, Naish, Fone etc seem to move with the trends but try to have some point of difference. At the moment they are all coming out with high aspect wings which are faster by nat...

Re: Wingfoil mast lenght

Just ride what you have for now and don’t worry too much about pumping. Once there is enough wind you don’t really need to pump. It will all come together v soon. You won’t use the 65cm mast more than a couple of times. Save your money for a funky high aspect wing when you are better. I’m betting yo...

Re: Wingfoil mast lenght

Agree with Gunnar but even so it seems something is not right about what you are doing. You should be able to foil easily with that gear in 15 knots. I am only a beginner but can foil with a 4.2 at approx 12 knots with a 2000 cm2 wing and much the same with a 1600 cm2 wing, maybe a knot or 2 more re...

Re: is it that easy to splice my own lines, SK99 600kg or-

I would respectfully disagree with Ozbungy. I have cut and spliced kitelines many many times both with a stitched "finger splice" and with the locked double brummel splice. If you only use the single brummel you must stitch the splice as it will not hold, but a double brummel splice will hold perfec...

Re: NZ South Island foiling spots

Seriously you won’t need it at that time of year. Take a 3/2. It’s only the lakes that have cold water because they are snow melt, but the air temp is usually good. The sea temp is mid teens, so not tropical but not crazy cold. But be prepared for some strong winds because it can blow at times. Neve...

Re: 590/633/683/790 Confused

Whoever does the marketing for Moses is a genius. So many wings with so many names and so many choices that no one knows what to ride and they are all similar yet different so you have to have at least 3 wings and 3 stabs and a couple of fuses and maybe a few length masts because when you get to the...

Re: 12 vs 15m for Marginal

Personally I think it depends on your preferred riding style. A lot of guys seem to like the “big wing small kite” style with very little kite pull. If that’s you go for a 12ish size. For me I like to ride powered so I am “small wing big kite” style and I choose a 15 as my low wind choice. Both a 15...
