Re: My experiences Wave riding with different boards and kit

Here are a couple of shots of my toe board that I use for all my kiting . Its 5'7" x 17 1/4 " and the PVC sandwich is finished with a custom paint job and polyester gel coat.

The board maker Biggie, from sirroco has been making sandwich boards with a glass finish for years.

Cabron wrote Hi Kevin, good to hear you're still into kitesurfing. However, any chance you're riding supermotos as well or is it another Kevin Salter? I ride s-motos too and noticed K. Salter on a supermoto site - just a coincidence... I used to be, but that was back in the late 70's early 80...

Re: My experiences Wave riding with different boards and kit

Yeah that was a dumb place to try and go kiting  I came unhooked just as the Guy launched me, and you can see what happens when your holding the bar with one hand unhooked when the kite launched. Fractured my wrist, and ended up with stitches in various places, plus a massive bruise on my hip,...

Re: My experiences Wave riding with different boards and kit

Hey Rich

I windsurfed for 20 years , then back in 2002 I swapped my windsurfing gear for kite gear, and for me there is no going back.

Re: can i use polyester resins in a vacuum bag set-up?

Not a good idea ! Why, cos the polyester resign using a catalyst goes off too fast for vac bagging. Two part epoxy will give you a much longer working window to get the bag down right. Typical working time with polyester is 15>20min vs 1>>2 hrs with epoxy using slow hardener, so when you bag using b...

Re: Surfboard fructure (ding) repair

Dont use polyester sun cure as pictured, it eats the styrene core!

Get some 5min epoxy ie two parts , hardner and resin. That will work fine. :thumb:

Re: Fin configuration on directionals

With the 4wfs get the blue disc's that have 0 deg cant on them. The Fins come std with about 5 deg cant on them. Get the glass 4A5 fins, I think they are about 91 sq cm area. The glass fins have a much finer entry foil than the composite ones. I have one board with 4wfs and the above fins. In the en...

Re: Fin configuration on directionals

Hi , Put the fins in the std position ie, measuring from the tail >>>rear of rear fin = 80>100mm, and to rear of side fins = 280mm . Make sure your side fins are only toed in 5mm from the back of the fin to the front of the fin measured @ right angle to the center line. ( Most std surfboards are at ...
