Re: Winging upwind...

I have struggled through this same thing. I can kitefoil upwind like it's nothing and make great progress windfoiling upwind, but winging has been a much greater challenge, it's a bit better than kiting a twintip, but not much. What has helped for is using a harness. With a properly setup harness li...

Re: Wingfoil versus Kitefoil?

Which one would I rather be stuck a kilometer off shore with when the wind dies, a wingfoil or kitefoil setup? I'll take the wingfoil any day which is pretty much why I don't kite that much anymore unless it's too shallow to wingfoil. I am finding that wing foilers are doing super long runs out to ...

Re: durability of wing boards

If you are worried about dings and cracks it's worth considering an inflatable. I bumped mine on the rocks while landing the other day and would have been seriously ticked if it was a hard board. Inflatables don't have a refined base with chined rails and tail steps, but it's a tradeoff I am willing...

Kinda makes good sense there. Isn't there only a few spots in the gorge to put up a kite?
Yup, winging has way more launch options in the Gorge.

Re: Symmetric Wing

As a windfoiler one of my favorite things about wingfoiling is the easy wing "spin" in jibes.

Re: Gong vs other brands wings and foils

I bought a Hipe recently and it is top notch quality-wise, now I want to eventually consider one of their foils to go with it when I am done with my current foil. When I had shipping questions they responded quickly the following business day by email.

Re: Wing material

Material also needs to stand up in freezing temperatures for WingSnowSkiing (very popular in my area). Alot of companies Windows have cracked and teared in this enviroment. For some people they do, but this is an outlier use case. I have windsurf sails with x-ply just like the wing in the above pic...

Re: 1st Try at any foiling

I have kitefoiled, windfoiled and wingfoiled and I have to say kitefoiling was the hardest of them all for me by far. I had been riding twin tips for over a decade before I started kitefoiling, so I was familiar with kite handling. With kitefoiling there was way more going on with trying to position...

Inflateable foil sups are good to learn and crash on. Cheaper than most hard boards too.
Except then you are stuck riding an inflatable SUP that's about as much fun as burpees.
