Re: Winging is half-assed kite foiling - discuss

My opinion is based on limited experience of 12 sessions. I agree on a lot of the negatives and believe it will be a niche for me eventually. Most disappointing has been the fact that it takes more wind than I thought it would. I never have issues staying upwind in marginal conditions when kitefoili...

Re: anyone used this stick on foilmount? in real life.

I also began foiling with the foilmount. I put it on a nearly 20 year old little fat bastard. I don't know anything about the construction but it has worked for me with no issues for 3 seasons. I have run it aground many times (at least 15 - 20 times) as I foil in a shallow location. I prepped it ve...

Re: Learning to foil strapless from a surfing background

But will give you a lot more trouble initially most likely, as you can NOT start like on a strapless surfboard (using a kite), I'm perplexed as this is not the first time I have seen someone saying this, but I start foiling the same way I start with a strapless surfboard. I believe someone said in ...

Re: Gong Veloce impressions

Hi, I dont find it difficult. I can actually line up kite for start, release board and put up feet and as board is sinking, time my kite movement to rise up on board as it sinks, in syncronisation. Still, I find the 633 buoyancy very useful when waterstarting: at times I body drag to the foil, turn...

I have used these for years:

O'NEILL SUPERFREAK TROPICAL 2MM SPLIT TOE BOOT - they also come in rounded toe
I also recommend the superfreak. I wear the round toe.

Re: The Ocean Rodeo Mako returns - lighter and livelier than ever

In this picture it appears the mutant option is gone on the 165. Hope the graphics will now be fade proof. That's unfortunate. I'm not in the market for a new board, but loved my 165 in mutant mode. Awesome board for learning to ride strapless and jibe. With this new lighter version could have been...

Re: Introducing the World's Lightest and Strongest Kites - Aluula

I'm surprised there aren't any Aluula Wing's out on the market I concur that this would be amazing for winging and it seems that the improvement in performance would be even greater compared to kites. I assume that Aluula is exclusive to Ocean Rodeo and they are busy enough just rolling out the kit...

 that's pretty good.

Curious what you have for a wing? I've got the 5.3 and 3.6 Naish S25's on order.

Re: The reason to wing. Can't do this with a kite

A. Technically Peter is right.... you should try a peak. Your roam may be awesome, but it is not at all like a peak when it comes to drift. The Roam is very good for an inflatable wave kite but I kite in onshore wind and as good as it is I know it's very limited in this regard. I have been followin...

Re: The reason to wing. Can't do this with a kite

You might not be aware but Annelous is a top female kiteboarder sponsored by Cabrinha. She has several recent competition wins so it seems telling to me that she is winging here instead of kiting. I've kitefoil éd in very similar conditions and I believe the swell is pretty neglible and fairly disor...
