Re: Please help me plan for a road-trip in Western Australia (Perth - Exmouth)

Whoops I'm at the end of a nightshift here and a bit tired, didn't notice you had replied with time of year.

You could get lucky with the wind but just be warned it is not an ideal time, I'm sure you will still enjoy the scenery regardless.

Re: Please help me plan for a road-trip in Western Australia (Perth - Exmouth)

I asked earlier when you were going but no reply? Just to let you know it can get very hot up there around January, February e.g. the average temp is around 24/27 to 42/43 celsius all this week (75/80 to /107/109 F) and the wind can trough out for days on end. I personally would be heading South fro...

When are you going, what month?
Shark Bay & Exmouth and Cape Range National Park areas are magic but it is a long drive, I definitely wouldn't be hanging around in Perth for 4 days.

Kite vid shot from quad chopper.

A different perspective to the usual go pro video's.

No it is not me in it or my video, shamelessly borrowed and shared because I liked it. :D

Re: What are the traits a wave kite should have?

We all like different things in a wave kite depending on ability, riding style, conditions etc. I think Peterheirman pretty much nailed the usual requirements though, drift, relaunch etc are a given. Turning speed is debatable, some like fast turning kites that they usually turn a lot and follow on ...

Re: Bucket method for rigging kite lines from a boat

Yep Ronnie that shows the drift perfectly and 9 times out of 10 the drift/launch is that easy. In my situation the boat is usually anchored and if the kite is placed at the right angle (just like in that video) it will drift back and to the side of the boat and pretty much launch itself and sit ther...

Re: Bucket method for rigging kite lines from a boat

We use a slightly different method for boat launching which seems to work well. Set up your kite on a beach or somewhere with the lines attached and laid out straight behind it. Roll up the lines carefully onto the bar, stop a few metres short of the kite and half hitch (clove hitch) the lines onto ...

Re: Switch Element 11 or 13 - which to complement BWS Noise

I'd go the 13 the 11 will be to close to your BWS. I have the 11 and 15 Element (as well as a quiver of Methods) and just had two weeks kiting in light wind waves in Bali, I took 9&12 Method and 15 Element but spent most of the time on the 15 Element, yes big kites aren't that much fun in the surf b...
