Re: Gear for going fast

In less than 10 knots, I think the foil kite does give you faster speeds. The windier it gets, the less benefit you get from a foil kite. The other benefit from foil kites is it floats you better through transitions.

Re: Levitaz bionic vs Moses Comet?

Moses comets are a good deal used ($1200) and pretty fast. I think used is the only reasonable way to go. Race gear loses its value so fast. Unless you are at the top, you dont need new gear. I've never ridden either myself, but I've talked to someone who had both the comet and bionic. (For what it'...

Re: Are fast foil wings dead outside of racing?

I would love to race (I like sailboat racing), but I need to learn transitions first. I’m hoping to get a surf wing to help w that. I hear this a lot. No need to have your transitions nailed to race. There will be other guys who cant do transitions at the race, so you will be able to race them. Whe...

Re: Champions Poised to Retain Crowns Despite Intense Pressure at KiteFoil Worlds, Italy Day Four

The IKA Formula thing does not seem to be working to cut costs. Gear costs seem to be going up 30% per year. For kites, it seems like the top riders just have to get two sets of kites to race in Formula events and open events (e.g. a quiver of Sonic Race for Formula events and a quiver of Sonic VMG ...

Re: AV8 Teaser - Cabrinha

Very cool. I won't be there this year but should be back for 2020. Have fun! Wonder if there's a clever way to get the pro box onto the tiny dwarf craft. Nice to only have to turn two screws. Fort 2 Battery was a great time again! Your legacy lives on! Probably wont fit in a dwarfcraft, it needs a ...

Re: Are fast foil wings dead outside of racing?

I go to a few races a year, but usually riding around on race gear on my own. Even if I gave up racing, Id stick with the fast foil. The slow wings feel super draggy in comparison. I rode a cabrinha double agent once for a few minutes and no joke had to stop three times to check there was nothing st...

Re: Fastest production hydrofoils

For current IKA registration equipment, Mike's Lab Bullet 3. (Bullet 4 is not registered equipment yet)

Chubanga V2 comes out next month, not registered IKA equipment. Early reviews sound promising.

Re: Foil racing – crashes + danger level?

I've been going to 4 regattas per year for the past 4 years. Typically 12-30 racers at each regatta. About 12 races per regatta. I've been in one tangle out of all those races and it was easily undone on the water. I've never been injured in 4 years, 2 sessions per week. I've only heard about a few ...

That's amazing! Thanks!

Same wind direction for two tracks isn't a problem for me because I use it for back to back comparisons
