Re: have you guys watched this, its sure to give you a heart attack

The last Americas cup in Bermuda used real time velocity, vmg, virtual moving finish lines, multiple one board cameras and course markers in live footage. It really made it exciting. It would be awesome to have these in kite racing. I'd like to see better "on board" camera like both head mounted an...

Re: have you guys watched this, its sure to give you a heart attack

These videos are really great! For sure best I've seen yet. These videos from hydrofoil pro tour a few years ago were also very good. They only had drone views, no headcam, but they did have some live narration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLLXoKi3hq4 The videos from the IKA events are horrendou...

Re: Do you step off gracefully?

Some will heed advice.... others will learn for themselves ! I for one am happy to "butt land" ALWAYS.... back in '08, I was coming in to the beach on a SB, ollied the board round, nose rode into about 2 inches of water, stepped off my board into SOFT sand, VERY soft waterlogged sand, my foot stuck...

Re: Do you step off gracefully?

If you jump off your board to lee or windward, and land on your feet, even on a sandy bottom when you dont know how deep it is exactly, the risk of foot injury is extreme, some of my friends has really had some issues... I broke my leg jumping off my SUP when I thought it was deep water back in Oct...

Re: Game changer Electric future foil idea for kites or Wings

Would you be sitting on the board with kite in the water when you use the motor to go backwards to tension the lines? It doesn't seem like you'd be able to get any speed on a normal sized kite-hydrofoil board in this situation. Could be nice for swimming in though if it was compact enough to be out ...

Re: Moses 2019-2020

Yes the combo 670/421 with 106 mast. I do not know about the 671 wing. Looks like this is the first IKA approved foil for the 2020-2024 Olympic cycle. https://formulakite.org/equipment/eligible-equipment/hydrofoils-2020-2024 Was there any wait to get it? Many of the other race foils have long wait ...

Re: Stacking foil kites?

I don't think it would work with a peak. The connection points need to be out at the wintips so the lines go past the kite below (like on the venom). It seems like the lines from the kite above would be rubbing on the kite below causing it to collapse or damage it.

Re: Racing on non-IKA equipment

Now, if someone is using a non-registered racing kite, that's a different story. Yeah, I don't know that there is one solution that works for everything. The recent hydrofoil pro tour event has no equipment rules, and was won on a prototype VMG 2 and prototype Levitaz foil (I think?). It would be t...

Re: Racing on non-IKA equipment

Hi, I was the one who said that, and actually they dont prevent you from lining up and completing the circuit, but they Disqualify all your results which is frustrating. It is silly but it is what it is, so we have a lot of people abstaining from participating in these events which results in a sma...

The serious racers always win, but in the end everyone has a good time, and in my point of view, this includes even the spectators.
Yeah, I love coming to St Pete to race. No equipment rules and it's never an issue.
