Re: how do you retrieve someone elses foil board?

When possible, I've dropped my board off on the beach and then body drag out to their board and ride it back in. Works here because we have very long beaches, but doesn't work in all cases.

Re: Foil Strap Inserts stripped

You're talking about the type where you screw right into a plastic block right? Going up one diameter size worked for me in the past as well. Also, I used longer screws and cut off the pointed part. You don't need the pointed part of the screw for this application, and it gives you more threads to e...

Re: Ozone releases R1V3...does this crap ever end?!

This must be the most expensive kite ever produced, a quiver would be a silly amount of money. Yeah, looks like $10k-$11k US for a typical 3 kite quiver of R1V4. Used race gear is a deal though! Lightly used R1v3s are half price now (~$1500). VMGs are even cheaper (~$1000). Hard to buy a $4000 kite...

Never heard of a blowout valve. Is this something older foil kites had?

Re: Ageing foil kites

I've owned about a dozen race foil kites (chrono, sonic, sonic 2, vmg, r1v2). They seem to lose their edge for racing after 2 years no matter how much you tune them. However, they all kept flying just fine for cruising with some bridle adjustments. My sonic 2 15m was the one I put the most hours on....

This new kite from the Flyysurfer ; it's gonna get , everyone else , "Thinking" and that's a Good Thing !!! :thumb: The interesting part is these kites are locked in now for 4 years. If the Flysurfer is the fastest, they'll have a monopoly for 4 years! (at least for IKA events and Olympics)

Re: Flysurfer is going to beat fishnets? (Release of VMG2)

I have heard that the VMG2 is quite easy to fly and does water relaunch ok and its easy to fly super fast. Thanks for the info on how the VMG2 actually flies, but a little off topic considering this is clearly a discussion about whether or not carbon fiber is stiffer than fiberglass  Really in...

Re: Roll Tacks: Stuck at 25% Success - tips?

^^^ These helped me so much today! By waiting to carve through until I feel kite pulling from new side I went to 60% success. My foot switch still sucks—kinda a frantic hop but I think I know how to correct that now that my kite is in the right spot. It always amazes me how you think your kite is i...

Re: Roll Tacks: Stuck at 25% Success - tips?

The breakthrough came for me when I started turning later. Having the kite past 12 before you start carving the board really helps you get through the tack with power. You want to be following the kite through the tack, not riding under the kite. I agree, big kite helps. Foil kite helps too. Short l...

Re: Levitaz releases its R5 design for Olympia 2024

The stabilizer angle for ML foils is adjustable: http://www.mikeslab.com/instructions/ . The old Chubanga V2 was not adjustable, the new V3 might work the same as ML, not sure. Thanks! I didn't realize that. I just got a used Bullet 3 and it didn't come with a shim. I'll have to try one out. It doe...
